Lost - The Full Series Thread

Having watched season 1 and the first 9 eps of season 2 again over the last week, there's loads of things that have gone missing: The whispers in the forest, all the people that the others took from the tail section, the mysterious illness that changed Rousseau's crew and just why was quarantine written on both the inside of the hatch and also on the inside of the door in the bunker that the tailies inhabited? None of these things have been satisfactorily explained yet.

And of course, don't even start thinking about the 108 minutes countdown that led to a purple sky and then... what?

I thought the quarantine thing was a Dharma lie? They just pretended there was a danger outside when there wasn't?

Yeah, fair enough, but why was it written on the inside of the door in the small bunker the tailies were in as well?

And what about the Black Rock? And the prophetic dreams?

The Black Rock was a ship that was owned by Alvar Hanso Great Grandfather (or great great etc) in the mid 19th century and went missing transporting slaves.

Er, the same reason?

But I thought that the video in the Pearl stated that the people in the Swan were the only ones under that whole quarantine experiment. It doesn't explain why the other site has the quarantine on it as there is no computer and nobody there.

Wonder if we'll see the nan0b0tzzzz/black smoke this season? That appears to have been dropped since...well wasn't Eko's death the last time, back near the start of season 3?

You saw it when Juliet and Kate were handcuffed in the jungle. It tried to go through the pylon fence but couldn't.

I thought the people that were taken from the tail section were living with the Others fairly happily. I am sure I remember a few of them being around when Jack and co were captured.

When Ben left the others to go and talk to Jack and convince him not to call in the freighter at the end of season 3, what were the others up to?

I seem to remember they made camp somwhere, having abandonned both the Barracks and the other Island (why DID they abandon these nice living places?) but were they on their way somewhere else?

Didn't they mention something about a temple? It's been a while since I watched the finale but I think either Ben told them to go there, or they said they would. Or something.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed but there's been loads more general chatter in the thread this season. Which is a good sign, IMO. I mean, I kind of thought 2010 might be too much for me, and that we'd end up with a lot of episodes like from the middle of season 2 (that quite literally told us nothing), but if they keep this up for the remainder I'll be a happy man.

While rewatching season 1 with a friend (who is now hooked on the show), I noticed something that might be a good insight into the situation between Kate/Aaron/Claire.

In episode 10, I think it's called Raised By Another, Claire has a dream about Locke sitting in the jungle with a cot, and his eyes were replaced with black and white rocks. Really creepy, but he says to Claire "It was your responsibility, you gave him away and now you have to deal with it. Everyone has to pay the price now."

Is this amazing continuity from season one to four? I think this could mean Claire isn't dead, but she is presented with some sort of situation where she feels she has to give Aaron to Kate to keep him safe. Maybe Claire, for some reason, can't leave the Island but Kate can, and the Island being a dangerous place what with the smoke monster and a war between the boaties/losties/others, she feels Aaron will be safer going with Kate.

Nevertheless, I think that moment from season 1 will prove to be very important. Rewatching episodes almost proves that they knew what they were doing all along, it's quite awesome.

'Amazing continuity' my arse. These writers have been winging it from day one.

In a podcast (forgot which one) the writers admitted that the actual story of Lost, plot wise, was planned from the beginning to the end and that they are honoring that. However they said the actual character relations, who ends up with who, who dies, the soap opera bits, are all "winged" for the fans liking and for shock value.

Oh yeah, I agree with the whole temporal and inter-dimensional convergence theory but to say that the creators had the whole thing mapped out from start to finish and that barring contractual disputes (see Mr Eko's exit) they knew how it was going to play out is just madness.

Why do some people find the need to state that they think the writers are just making it up as they go along. From what I have gathered they created a beginning and an end but I guess getting to that end wasn't mapped out. Though I have complete faith that they always knew how the show would end up, that's why they pushed so hard to get the studio to finish up on six seasons.
