In last nights ER on Ch 4 did Romano get caught under the helicopter? As I missed it just as the helicopter was about to crash to the ground as my housemate decided to put her head in the way just at the key moment.

I suspect that he didn't, although you are meant to think that he did.

The scene was edited so that you didn't actually see it land on him, or at least the perspective was such that he could have been behind it. I reckon he ran off in a daze, and this is all a big tease. The still frame of him at the end is another clue - I reckon it's there to make you think the credits are all about his death, and is another tease.

Then again, my gf thinks I'm talking out of my arse, so I could be completely wrong. It wouldn't be the first time they've tricked the viewer into thinking a main character had bought the farm though...

I think that was just to show how little they care about him.

I mean come on, it's a bit of a silly way to go. Arm chopped of by Helicopter, crushed by helicopter several months later. It's like some sort of nemesis of his, his Moby Dick if you like.

I'd be prepared to have a little wager on this. Who's up for it?

That thing with Susan's boyfriend was bollocks. If he didn't get in the chopper you would have been able to still see him on the roof as we looked from Neela's perspective! There is no other exit unless he is some kind of super being and jumped over the side of the building.

Still good though. Romano = dead.

See, this didn't cross my mind during the episode, I was convinced he was dead. Now you've said that, though, I'm not so sure. At the end where the firefighters are shining the torches under the wreckage, we didn't get anything along the lines of 'oh my god, there's another body under here!'. Were they showing us beneath the wreckage to demonstrate that he didn't get caught there after all? Another factor was that they didn't show us a teaser for next week's show - perhaps because that would give the game away?

I'm hoping you're right - the Rocket is a superb character. His 'talk to the hand' line was about 56 times better than Arnie's in Terminator 3.

You did see it land on him, though. There was a long shot with him crouching down and the helicopter crashing down onto him. If they're going to have him escape it'll be a pretty dodgy bit of revisionist editing. The kind of thing Annie Wilkes would break ankles over.

Then again, ER has always been one to twist around those kind of plots and keep you guessing. Remember the search for Kovac's 'body', or the Carter/Lucy stabbing?

I've only ever seen a handful of ER eps and didn't really know who you all were talking about until this post - now I do, I'll just say that that guy was the acest, uberrude, arrogant doctor guy ever and they're nuts if they've killed him off.

Poor fella, his characters always seem to meet a sticky end...

Romano was the best character in ER for the last two or three years by a mile.

SPOILER -> Romano's dead unfortunately, and Carrie uses his donation to the hospital in his will to open the "Robert Romano center for Gay, Lesbain and Transexual Medicine.

Not true. Once refused access onto the helicopter he could have come straight back down on the lift while they loaded the patient into the helicopter.

Does anyone know if the nurse that got hit through the back with a piece of rotor blade survived by the way?

Not true! Romano had just used the lift by himself (which you clearly see) when they were still arguing about Lewis' boyf getting on the bird. It could only have come back up when Neela was getting in. So where did he go?
