Whats the problem with the controls?

Apart from the obvious fiddliness for me at this early stage.

Oh, and the fact that the multiplayer portion now refuses to even fucking load on my Xbox. :P

That Thompson drive strikes again no doubt. wait no....

It's just a control scheme, old man. I can't see why it's so hard to get used to something different. And I've played GoldenEye and Perfect Dark as well.

i'm inclined to agree. i remember playing Metroid Prime and thinking the control scheme was a bit weird. it didn't put me off playing the game mind, and in no time i was used to it and understood why the developer had done it this way.

But this system has been in use for YEARS now. It's not like it's something new, just out of the blue or something.

Klopt, but until recently, all FPS games have had the option to change the settings to your heart's content.

I cant believe i'm stuck already...

The bit where youre outside the window with all the glass and theres 2 hostages on the floor, one which you have to interrogate. God its right at the beginning of the 2nd level :P

the second level starts in a subway, which bit do you mean?

Ok then, maybe the 2nd part of the 1st level?

You climb up some ladders right at the beginning, then listen in to that terrorost dudes phone conversation... :P

Are playing something different? Did you buy Bad Boys II by mistake?

you're on a balcony and there's a terrorist inside interogating hostages, yeah and how are you struggling with it?

The graphics are a little bit special aren't they? I mean, those reeds that you move through in the river....

Initial thoughts are that it's quite complicated control wise, although much, much better than the previous one. A lot better use of 'context sensitive' situations. You no longer need to rifle through your inventory to find the right tool for the job and then 'arm' yourself with it, because the entire list of available options/gadgets appears when you press 'A' - for instance, when next to a door.

I've already had my nerves shredded and I'm only 1/2 hour in...

Spoliers in white:

When your boss tells you to stay still - do it! Wait until they've finished their conversation and when one of the guys leaves sneak underneath the window (staying close to the wall). At the full-length window stand upright and go close to the wall, then do a SWAT turn past the gap. Move on along the balcony until you reach the pipe at the end. Climb up it until you're hanging off of the roof. Move round to the right and drop down onto the other balcony. I'll leave you to sort out form there

I'm on the second level now, but really enjoying it, nice stuff

Our control set up is older than yours. And if we haven't played it before then it is new to us.

Hey, I played the original Wolfenstein using a keyboard. Obviously everyone has his preferences, but I don't have any problems with the GoldenEye method, Halo method or Metroid Prime method.

The only thing I really need is inverted Y axis. And I find it strange that you can invert the third person camera movement horizontally in multiplayer, but not in the single player game. I think I'll change it back in multiplayer, because I'm getting all confused now.

Great game, it's absolutely crammed with atmosphere.

Technically it's not older because I used this same set up left d-pad to move and strafe and right analogue stick to turn and look on Goldeneye, so it's not older...

Just saying, is all...

this game has a bug or two. did the first level single player - then went to multiplayer and my profile is corrupted. it recovered it but haven't gone back to single player to try it out yet.

gah.

also, xbox live is now updating for the first time in ages despite me plaing pgr2 last night. it's taking forever!

Bet you struggled to change weapons and stuff! Wouldn't you have to unnaturally strain your right thumb to reach the buttons?

No. Your left hand sits nicely on the left prong and your index finger does the trigger for aiming and your thumb does the d pad. Your right hands holds the middle prong, index finger does the Z-trigger, your thumb sits on the analogue stick and then moves over to press A and B. The gap is only about an inch and as the analogue stick sits between the end of my thumb and the joint it's really easy to reach them. No different from the pads of the cube, xbox and PS2 reeally. Try it if you have an N64 pad handy. it's most comfortable because I was using my stronger inder finger to fire with as well...

That's EXACTLY how I played, and that was by far the most comfortable way, for me anyway.

Yeah, I got the corrupt file aswell but did it the other way round... Wen't straight onto Live yesterday, then today when I went to play on single player it just had to 'recover' it, not a problem really... no data seems to be lost by this 'corruption'.
