Dawn of the Dead

Exactly! Andy had an entire shop of ammo at his disposal - he could've easily killed 20 or so of the bastards an hour, given how good a shot he was. Give him a week and the street would be knee deep in dead, er...deader, zombies and he could just walk over to the mall.

Silly chap.

But the noise would likely attract more zombies, so (if you're in a [once] heavily populated area as depicted in the film) unless you're prepared to pop possibly tens of thousands of them in the head, it's not necessarily a good idea.

Molotov cocktails might work but with the potential risk of one of the zombies inavertently setting your building alight.

What a great movie! It was a lot better than I thought it would be too. The zombies were violent and freaky. Just the right amount of action, cheese, in jokes and references to the orginal - loved those cameos.

Although, I must admit that I did see the film after a fair few drinks, with a group of friends, at Midnight, on a Friday. Everything's GREAT in those scenarios. Still! Kerraig, you're being a bit harsh me thinks, hmmm?

B)

Bring them the fuck on, I say. Anyway, we've all seen Commando - all gunshop owners have secret sections with anti-tank guns and rocket launchers, right?

Right?

Um...

You're probably right.

After all, we are talking about a scenario where the dead have rised to devour the flesh of the living...anything's possible, right?

I'm having the Robocop helmet that allows me to target mutiple zombies simultaneously.

:)

Thinking about it some more, I am now at the conclusion that if a ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE does happen, I definitely want to be in a country with gun shops on every street corner. The UK is completely rubbish in that regard.

We should wait until Shaun Of The Dead before making rash statements of Britain's survivablity of a Zombie Holocaust. Looks to me that a cricket bat would make an excellent weapon.

Did anyone watch the "Dawn of the Dead Special" that was on TV last night? It featured Mark Kermode talking about zombie movies for ten minutes and then showed the 8-minute preview of the film - basically the entire (excellent) opening sequence, but with the hospital scenes missing.

I saw it last night and thought it was average. It wasn't a bad film (like Cabin Fever, for example), but I just didn't think there was anything great about it.

It was a bit "meh" really.

The ending would've been better if the usless projectionist hadn't turned the lights on as soon as the titles appeared. I got the message though after a lot of squinting.

i saw the film yesturday. It was good, but i couldnt help thinking it could be better at times, and got a little bored.

Exactly how I felt! It dragged in places. It wasn't until *spoiler* the sequence when they busted out of the shopping mall in the trucks *spoiler* that it really got going and I really enjoyed it from there.

It was OK, but definitely "meh" at best.

Ah but Shaun... features traditional lumbering zombies whereas Dawn and 28 Days Later... feature these new fangled superfast diseased beasties and knowing our luck, the latter is exactly the kind that we'd have to face. With this in mind, I'm demanding a change to the UK's gun laws. I want guns to stop me from ending up in something else's cold, dead hands.

Cricket bats ain't much use when you've a dozen of the bastards charging at you like a New Zealand rugby team from beyond the grave...

SPoilers in yellow

it turns out there is no food in the boat, theres a zombie in it, there is only enough fuel to get to the next island where lo and behold theres a shitload of zombies and they all get killed

Oh, for fuck's sake. Are you kidding? I just walked out when the credits started rolling. I wish directors wouldn't do that!

:P Damn, did you sprint out of the auditorium or something? The end sequence starts pretty much as soon as the credits do. :(

I saw it earlier today and fucking loved every moment of it.

It was entertaining throughout, with appropriate amount of comedy and horror.

My only complaint is that the only good thing about the original (IMO remember), the satire on consumerism is laregly passed over. The zombies being at the mall didn't really say much about commerce at all. But I guess there's no need to make the same point twice. That and it wouldn't have had the same effect with this faster zombies.

I happen to love these more nimble zombies. Makes them a hell of a lot more terrifying.

After seeing the zombie baby I was expecting some Braindead style action but alas no. Which is a good thing actually as that wouldn't have fit in with the tone of this movie.

I loved the A-Team style modding of the vehicles. Made me want a big screen version of The A-Team even more with Ving Rhames as B.A. himself.

I enjoyed the movie so much that I would have been prepared to watch it all again straight after. But instead I went to see Zatoichi instead a good film, if a little disappointing in places.

What was the name of the coffee house? Hallowed Grounds. I liked that little touch. I thought the bit with the old bloke and the chainsaw was a bit grim though. Grim and tragically funny...

I wish Peter Jackson would remake Braindead.

Sven ;[)~

When I saw the guy demonstrate how the chainsaw were to be implemented I couldn't wait to see them in action.

And why remake Braindead? It's perfect as it is. Especially with choice lines such as "You're mother ate my dog!" and "I kick arse for the Lord!" spoken by the Father Ted looking priest.

Saw it today, was pretty cool, a nice gory old scho0l horror movie. There was some really badly edited sections tho with things jumping around, esp when the new people arrived, you didnt see them all then it suddenly jumped to a montage of them all living in the mall and I was like 'who the fuck is that then'. Also the bit in the sewer jumped around all over the place, the shakey cam thing was a bit to much at times as well. I liked it tho.

I well enjoyed it. And my housemate appears to have had a little nightmare, if the yell I heard at 1am-ish was anything to go by.

Or he's the world's noisiest wanker.

Anyway, I thought it was ace, and I really liked the opening, and then the closing bits. And the rest of the film weren't too bad, either. Ving's a little to hard to be scared for him, though.

i saw the first 9 minutes on tv over the weekend and it looked pretty good to me, i've now got the impossible task of trying to convince the missus to come and watch it with me...

and i think showing the first 9 mins on telly like that was a great idea, it really got me in the mood fore the film and i wanted to see what happened next. they should do that with more films.

shame its the best 9 minutes of the film though.

fuck, is it really? i was really looking forward to it after that teaser.

do you think i should give it a miss then, i don't want to be disappointed... i'm gutted as well cos it's been a long time since the last great horror film and from what i saw this looked like it had potential.

Go and watch it.

Make up your own mind.

As this thread shows, the majority of people who have seen it enjoyed it.
