I don't have to- I've seen the screenshots and movies. I've also played MGS/2 so much that I know how you can get through each section with the new moves. For example: from the heliport run right, cross lights, sneak around past guard and up stairs, in top vent, through, out, hop over rail, drop, wait for guards to walk away, hit lift button, hide under tank, wait for coast to clear, enter lift.

Congratulations! You've reached the jail cells in 2.34 minutes.

So no, you haven't played it then.

No, but I'm extrapolating reasonably from reports of/pictures of/movies of level layouts and guard patterns, and the new abilities provided. I can't see any attempts to accomodate the new abilities, and that's what a great many of the reviews have said, too.

Well for one thing they ratcheted up the guard AI, so its not like the new moves are the only thing that has changed.

Anyway - if you can play this game entirely in your head based on reviews and the original MGS, you're clearly not the target audience :(

It just depresses me that, like Alien: The Director's Cut, they've butchered a classic and pretended it's the definitive version.

Well the original is still available, on budget, and plays on a current generation console, so maybe you should chill out and exercise your right not too purchase MGS:TTS?

Alas, no matter how much I whinge, every time I look at a screenshot or a trailer, I think "If this is only half the game it could've been, it'll be fantastic".

I guess you're right. Whinging is fun, but the game will no doubt be an enjoyable romp at the very least.

Doesn't change the fact that MGS:TTS really could've been something definitive and new...

Are you going to go and exercise your right to buy the original, or just buy the remake, BTW?

I'm getting the remake, and I don't own the original. I played through about 1/2 of the original on a friends PS, so I'm looking forward to playing this new enhanced version which will be mostly new to me.

So shoot me, I'm looking forward to it.

MGS the TWIN SNAKES is much better that Crpastation Metal Gear Solid, raiden was so gayzzz in that, i thought he was gona bum me in the bog at one stage and you even see his wienner. Not in TWIN SNAKES THOUGH, as snake is cool and hard and the best, this is the best game ever with graphics that look like real life, Shooting people is so realistic, especially the stingers they have great physics, much better than any crap station or black big box games!!!!111111111111111111111111

The folks on the MG.net BBS are playing it- most complaints are townards first-person mode (the Z-button is a pain to use), being able to use the SOCOM against cameras (makes cameras almost pointless, a bit like MGS2 in that respect), and that the levels have changed a little (so that those who played the original while definately have issues if they use the tried-and-tested techniques).

Ha! So Alex W. is shit out of luck then! Try playing and reviewing the game entirely in your head now! ;)

Still hasn't shipped from DVDBoxOffice :D

Same here.

Although they did kindly send me an email saying I could buy the strategy guide for it from them. Even though they still havent shipped the bloody thing. Bastards! ;)

....and Im still waiting for Ninja Gaiden to turn up. That shipped last Friday. I really dont know why Ive bothered with DVDBO. Ive had numerous bad experiences in the past, yet once again Ive come back for more.

For the sake of a few extra quid I`d prefer to just get the products ASAP, rather than a week or so after release.

I thought you ordered it from videogamesplus.

Mines shipped from there already.

I ordered mine yesterday. Within 2 hours, it had already shipped, and now it's probably somewhere over the Atlantic.

Well worth paying the extra £2 for postage if you ask me.

Got it. Played for 10 minutes. Nice intro, controls are a bit weird (Start+A to get the Codec for example). Graphics look about on par with MGS2. Oh I started on "Hard" (Options went all the way down to "Very Easy") and kept getting killed, the guard AI is definitely a lot better than the original.

Gotta get back to work unfortunately now. I'll make a more complete report when I have had chance to play the game properly.

Stupid DVDBO cancelled my order without telling me.

Fair enough, they had my old CC registered, but ffs, I did preorder last August and these things do change.

Have reordered with videogamesplus.
