No, I mean the briefings that are an option from the title screen. Remember in MGS where you could get a load of backstory as filmed from a camera in Snake's room before he goes on the mission? Well these have been re-done and are now fully animated and by clicking the right and left trigger you can flick between four cameras and pan them round. I'm not talking about the codec bits.

Don't forget you can zoom in and out of course.

you have to invert you're look every time you start the game ? fuck that.

No, it takes about 10 seconds to sort out. Don't blow it out of proportion.

And you can zoom in on the briefings? How? I tried every button. I'm playing the Jap version by the way so having to figure out the buttons as I go.

The original allowed you to switch camera between 3 angles, zoom in/out and pan around as well, though I imagine not to the degree you're hinting this version does.

Can't believe they didn't stick in a save settings option - it was bad enough the original didn't have one...

I don't remember the original looking like this. I thought it was all done in drawings and wasn't animated.

not trying to blow anything out of proportion, but it is something they should have fixed!

Yep, toggle ahoy! One thing though is that it doesn't save your option prefs. So every time I play I have to centre the screen, switch the jap subtitles off and toggle the FP look and invert it too. Bit of a pain.

Actually, it does save your settings. Just set them up the way you like, and either load a game or start a new one. Then, save your game.

Next time, just load it up without going to the options screen. I've never had to reset English subtitles or first person toggle.

The settings are stored on your save game in the original, assuming you're not a muppet and go into the Options screen before loading up...

Ah, Amazon Reviews, providing the best in comedy brilliance for several many much years.

Let's hear some tidbits:

I cant wait for this game to come out!

not only has it the best story ever created for the playstation, but also has some of the best graphics to match. The only reason I bought a Gamecube was for this game.

I wonder how long he'd been waiting, eh? ;)

you think that mgs is one of the most revolutionary games of all time

i laugh in your face. mgs is in my appinoin one of the most boring games ever created. i no mgs is very well recieved but dont go so far and say its revolutionary

you games that were revolutionary games like mario, sonic, final fantasy. you probably dont even no the background to mgs. if you do im sorry but until you prove me wrong dont even think about calling mgs revolutionary

but this game does look totally awsesome for people that like sneaking around. not my cup of tea. i am glad that this is coming to gamecube

He no waht he is talkking abowt, duzent he? A strong appinoin either way!

Ok, altered the settings last night, went ahead and played. Turned it off. Turned it back on later, reloaded, and the settings had not been saved. FP was on toggle etc etc. It may just be the jap one but they need re-setting every time. Will try again tonight.

Is there a way to not fire your gun once you've already brought it up to aim? I thought there was, but once I've aimed, I can't seem to just let go of the trigger gently and return it to my holster without letting off a loud gunshot.

Make sure you are not in FP view. Hold down the right trigger and select nothing. This stops you shooting. I think you may just be able to tap the right trigger to holster the gun as well, like you can to switch items off and on with the left trigger.

I'm talking about original MGS. Twin Snakes may well be idiotically dumb about saving settings.

I think you can also safety aimed weapons with Y in TTS, I think I read it somewhere...

From NTSC-UK:

if you are holding you gun and want to lower it press and hold Y while holding Y let go off A and you will lower you weapon.

I have the Japanese version, and my settings are being saved. I didn't even have them all set up before starting a new game - I only changed to toggle after playing once. But when I saved my game again, that setting got saved too. So, I dunno what's going wrong for you.

THEY'RE ALL THE BLOODY SAME!

Are they? I thought this was an enhanced graphical update, with extra controls, better graphics and sound and re-done cut scenes! Have those bastards duped me!? Have at you!

I will check tonight with the settings, see what's happening.

It's meant to be a confused, I-don't-know-which-is-which face there, you know... not a sly dig.

I'm not Alex W., you know!

Okay played a bit more and its tough, thats for sure. MGS was pretty easy to get past the tank section and to see meryl. Now i took the upstairs route (where the socom is hidden) but firstly guards can now hear you walking along the metal walk way, secondly shooting out cameras is a good idea, except when people hear you.

Guards in MGS would come at you one at a time from a distance, but now they randomly appear off screen and take you out in 3's. You HAVE to hide, you cant fight your way out. Now i hated this aspect of the game in MGS2, but it seems to be slightly more forgiving in MGS:TTS. But still just getting down to the lift to see the darpa cheif took me a couple of go's, its certainly a lot harder to get by unseen.

Also theres a few new cutscenes explaining everything a little better and they are all brilliantly done. When meryl goes into the lift now she doesnt do her little hand thing as the door closes which i miss however.

So far its MGS but it seems different, probably because of the higher difficulty and changes.

Will keep updating shortly.
