Consolevania- Out This Week!

Hi

Just wanted to let you all know that we'll be taking orders for copies of Consolevania Episode 1 this Wednesday. Hopefully we'll have the episode in your hands on a shiny disc by early next week.

Anyone who fancies pulling the show off a disc and hosting it on some server for the broadband punters, knock yourself out.

It is still FREE remember, so we hope you will forgive us the bits we're not too happy with, and appreciate the bits we ARE happy with.

Our major problem is with the quality of our in-game footage. Having taken 'advice', we found that it wouldn't quite be the done thing to take a straight capture of the stuff, and that we'd have to shoot it straight from a screen. As you can imagine, it doesn't look great- but it's watchable. Unfortunately we're doing this with no cash, so can't grease any palms or anything to get you top-notch footage.

Still, it's only episode one- and we're in this for the long haul, so it can only get better.

Anyway, we're sure you'll appreciate the lo-fi nature of the show, and the sentiment behind it all. Any questions at this late date, just ask. And thanks for all your help up until this point.

R.

Hi all.

Glad you're all still interested- of course, you haven't seen it yet...

We'll be posting up on how to order the copies on Wednesday. We're still mulling over a few things, but don't worry. Anyone who wants a copy will get one.

For the moment, post up here if you fancy a copy, and keep checking here for how to get your hands on it.

Now, don't go into this with your expectations too high, mind. We set out to make this show while spending no money on it, and that's exactly what we did. So don't expect a set, explosions, UFO's or it always being in focus. ;)

Still, if you want the definitive reviews on Bujingai, Siren, Morrowind: GOTY and the like, look no further. We've not been able to explore every idea we wanted, but we'll build on that in later shows with advice from your good selves.

Ask away.

Have to get back to you on that, Soongy-baby.

I don't deal with all the computery stuff. But sure, what we're hoping is that people just freely upload it somewhere, split it up, do whatever they like. We don't care.

But it might be kinda big, I'd imagine, without splitting it into individual clips.

Yup. Legal problemos.

Basically, if we film from a screen we can film anything at all, as long as we don't charge.

Problem is, we were using a PAL DV camera so NTSC games have a nasty flicker. We'll deal with that by episode 2, either by getting a second camera (NTSC) or getting a new screen that forces PAL.

It's all a learning process.
