Bands That Could Produce Videogame Soundtracks

Trent did the first Quake compare the shitty cliche' metal riffs on Q2 to Quake's distinctly better soundtrack ;). Also Autechre, LFO et al HAVE done a game soundtrack Hardwar for the PC, though I'm not entirely sure it was all original work.

Trent did one of the Quakes didnt he?

Also: Rhapsody could do ANY D&D style game. I always thought they should have done the LOTR soundtrack but WILL ANYONE LISTEN???

As soon as I read this topic's title Rhapsody instantly came to mind! I've only just discovered them and the first thing I imagined when hearing "Warrior of Ice" for the first time was fighting some sort of boss. Probably some sort of Castlevania boss ;) .

Listen to Where Are You Baby by Betty Boo and tell me it doesn't deserve a place in a JSRF game.

I'd have to go for Mogwai for a Metroid game. I'd also suggest Stereolab for some kind of retro-modernist platformer with Rez style graphics, or perhaps a puzzler.

Anything with lyrics is frankly right out.

Blur.

Listen to Parklife and The Great Escape, the short melodys sound really great. Very suitable for platformers and the like.

If you listen to the Great Escape theres a short meldoy that sounds EXACTLY like Castle of Illusion on the megadrive!

Cradle of Filth were supposed to produce some music for 'Shadowman' but it never happened in the end. Funny, because before I found this out I was listening to one of their songs and the intro was excactly the same as the sound one of the weapons made in Shadowman (the name escapes me now, but it was a 'chugging' noise, like a chainsaw ticking over).
