I just got this because work have been stupid enough to give me a laptop, hence I can now play PC games

I don't know what the general perception of the game is, but I am frigging loving it.

Extremely funny, up there with the other 3 IMHO. Some toughy puzzles, but nothing too hard so far.

I thought it was very prosaic. It didn't have the spirit of the first two and it wasn't very funny most of the time, it seemed like a saturday morning cartoon version of Monkey Island. See also: Discworld Noir.

..... but it's still better than Simon the Sorceror 3D

MI3 was shit, 4 even more so.

1 and 2 are the only true Monkey Island games IMO.

I disagree about MI3. It had a lot to offer and only marginally failed. It was the increadibly changed style of the graphics that were a really stupid idea. And everybody giving Guybrush no respect and him taking it. It was like a Ben Stiller movie.

I never finished MI3. The first 2 are 2 of my favourite games of all time, the 3rd one just didn't click.

Me and my mate who played through them at the time they came out still make each other laugh with the old 'look behind you, a 3 headed monkey!'

I've always defended MI 3+4, i thoroughly enjoyed them both, although not as much as the first two. most people seem to have hated four though. A lot of them point to a few plot inconsistencies which it introduced, but i've never thought of that as a problem. More of them point to it not being funny, which is more valid criticism in my opinion, but its still a pretty clever adventure with good puzzles and locations, plus its great revisiting Melee and Monkey Islands in 3d-o-vision. and Monkey Kombat made me laugh.

Loved MI4 - much better than 3 which had flat jokes and 'highlighting' live objects could be a real bitch. I often wondered if the collision detection was funny.

The last act was bloody appalling - the LeChuck scenes were absolutely shite. Shite I tell you.

MI3 did have the cool banjo playing contest and those pirates. Arrrr. And while I'm thinking of it; did you hear about that new pirate movie coming out? It's rated arrrr.

The beginning of the intro to MI4, when Guybrush says "I always knew I wanted to be a pirate" - it goes to a flashback and shows him being washed up on the shore, he looks up and immediately goes: "I wanna be a pirate!"

That made me laugh til I shat.
