Wrong! The reviews were the best bits, really. Back to Cybernet with you!

I know most people will disagree with me but that's just how I'd prefer it. Never seen Cybernet to be honest though!

I guess that's just how I am - Not a massive gaming fan and not a massive review fan.

Showing lots of footage is fine, but the way it was presented didn't do it for me. No offence to the big man but his voice came across too monotonous with lots of umming and arring during the reviews. From what I heard anyway.

Guess that just means I'm really not the target audience for this kinda thing. I'd rather see random members of the public making themselves look stupid with some semi-related to games than a full-on 5/10min video review of a game.

I'd rather play it for a bit!

Got mine yesterday. Watched it all last night.

I love the Castlevania review and the jap import Game of the month (who's name I've forgotten) review. The Siren review was pretty good too. A game I'm interested in. Was dissapointed you didn't play the real english dub. :-)

The XBox RPG review was boring, but that's prolly cos I hate RPG's.

Legends bits were quite good.

I was thoroughly impressed with the end product. Definately kept me interested and it's great to see games in action while being reviewed.

I was less keen on the interview with the bloke in G-Force. I kinda felt sorry for him and it wasn't that funny/interesting.

But yeah, overall, I was pretty impressed and look forward to the next issue. You should review some EA games that are decent. Might help dispel this EA are shit attitude amongst "serious" gamers as well as review a few of the recent classics like Ico.

Wouldn't you rather see a review of a game you've never heard of, and think "Wow, that looks fucking good! I'll keep an eye out for that" like I did with Bujanjai (or whatever the frig that last game was)?

You're wrong about the umm-ing and ahh-ing too. I was expecting the same thing, lots of bloody "it's eerr, Mario Kart, so, you errr, you have lots of weapons at your, um, your, disposal. Ummmm." But it was nothing like that at all. The reviews were well thought out, well written and well presented. I didn't find them monotonous at all. I've never played Morrowind before, so why not watch it, and see what they make of it?

Even next month, when they'll be reviewing Twin Snakes, I'll watch the review. It's just nice to see what other people think of a game you're playing.

I'm not saying I should come round to your house and sit with you and force you to watch it all. Maybe you're right; maybe this show isn't aimed at you so much. But I think it should remain as is. It's a games show with some funny comedic interludes. Not a cheap Glaswegien Dom Joly with some interludes about games.

It can be about games and it can be hardcore, but that doesn't mean it still has to stay reviewing a game for 5 or so minutes. I mean, that's a lot of time! I can complete MGS2 in that time.

I've never played Morrowind before either, but I have no interest in it so I can't be arsed watching that.

I'm not saying it has to be Dom Joly-stylee. Clearly by you being here with a 4k+ post count, you prefer talking about games than reading reviews, right? Like me.

Call me voyeuristic but I'd much rather hear 2 or 3 people talking (seriously) about a game than just one person reviewing it. Discussion is where it's AT.

Watching the game whilst hearing about 3 people have an unscripted discussion of what they each think of the game would be far more appealing to me, for a few reasons.

This is pretty much what I've done, but the DivX file size is huge - 875MB. I don't mind hosting this, but can't see the benfit over DivX. Again, this is me being clueless about video encoders.

With mp3 (lame) audio compression and good Divx 5 video compression it should be about 150 meg. just don't use virtual dub, it's silly and fiddly (but there areoptions for compression there if you look in the audio options)

I see where you're coming from.

It's a good idea, but it has been done, and it's not particularly great in practice. The people on Game Network used to do it a lot, and it really was just rubbish. They'd argue a bit about it, say they thought GT3:A Spec was better or something, and so on and so forth. You learnt very little about the game itself.

Fair enough, that's Game Network. The guys at Consolevania might be able to do something decent with the idea, but it wouldn't be something I looked forward to until I'd seen them do it very well indeed.

I'm surprised at people not finding the GForce interview funny.. maybe its essence gets lost in translation. The guy came out with some abso-fucking-lutely classic quotes. "Most people are shoot-em-ups" etc. Maybe yous southern bastards can't discern the subtleties of his language or maybe you identified with him too closely to find it funny..

I think the reviews (apart from Morrowind) were excellent, well structured with some good insights.

The Legend stuff, I could do without - some of it was funny, but the American accent started pissing me off after a while. Haven't watched the Hitler section properly yet.

Overall I think it was a great first episode. Loads of promise and things can only get better as these guys hone in on what makes it special.

I can understand why some people may not like the Morrowind review, but it worked for me. I often thought I'd like Morrowind, but after having seen it played and listening to the review, I really know what to expect if I do pick up the GoTY release. To be honest, I have been tempted to pick up the GoTY edition but will now wait until it's going cheap. The reason for this is the graphics/UI looked a bit clunky but it definitely came across as NOT a "leveller" or "graphics whore" title. So I'll pick it up when it gets cheaper and I've got a spare 100 hours or so.

The review did manage to get across the key point that it's as much an experience and enjoyable _game_ rather than something you achieve and complete. At least I hope that's what they meant.

The main reason I didn't like the Morrowind review was the subject matter. Morrowind is a steaming pile of shite. Technicall flawed and aesthetically challenged its an abomination of an RPG - it has everything that's wrong with Western RPGs in it and none of the good stuff. Dull, dull, dull game. Yeah, it's an experience but so is drowning in your own drool.

That's the game (and I agree) but we are talking about the review.

Of course, that's in your opinion but there's plenty of other people here who like it. Horses/courses, each/own, apples/pairs, v1agr4/val1um. etc.

I like RPGs. I think Morrowind looks a bit clunky but a very good game that I could get engrossed in. The review did its job of telling me this. I'm not sure how else it could have been presented. Perhaps a bit more detail on the sort of stuff you can do in the game, perhaps (trading/whittling etc.)?

"Look, I whittled a '+9 resistance to fire mithril armour set' out of this pine cone"

I was impressed. I liked the mix of reviews and interview type bits. And it was funny, with a few genuine laugh out loud moments.

I thought that most segments seemed to go on too long. I think if you cut them down and made them slightly snappier, rather than taking your time, it would be much more watchable. A few times the sound quality dipped. Hitler in particular. Although I didn't think that section was too good, anyhow.

The reviews were generally impressive, although they maybe need a bit of trimming. However, the footage on most was good. It could be better, but it wasn't unwatchable. They came across as honest and confident reviews.

Personally, I'd like to see it a little shorter. Legend was the best none-gaming bit. Keep that. I didn't find Hitler funny, but maybe because I couldn't hear it. It would be great if you can work out how to rid the ntsc flicker on the screen. But definitely a superb first effort. Naturally it will improve in time, and I'll definitely be looking forward to episode 2.

If the Thought Police set about it, they'd pick up on the swearing and the Hitler bit would go down like a tonne of bricks.

I'm not at all bothered about the swearing or (legal in the UK) nudity etc. but I'd definitely recommend steering clear of religious, racial or otherwise highly contoversial stuff. I know it's meant in good humour, you know it's meant in good humour, but there are plenty of people out there who'd take great offence - and I can totally understand their reason for doing so.

That was a class act! It felt overall (as you might expect) to be a bit unfocused and maybe just a touch too amateur (in that there was a lot of umm-ing and err-ing) - the reviews were VERY good, although again, perhaps too unfocused (in terms of length, they were very long, and direction). The overall show length wasn't bad at all, but I think a little bit of focus and direction wouldn't be a waste, as the majority is very funny.

Most of the funnies were exactly what I was expecting (re-dubbing the Gackt interview with the GForce guy interview = genus!). My favourite bits were clearing the kittens off the 'Consolevania' logo at the start and the Shenmue "I see" drinking game

What I liked most was the honesty - the presenters are obviously gamers, and this show is so obvioulsy giving them as much pleasure as I'm getting. Fucking class, I can't wait for the next one!

EDIT - question is, where next? Exposure in Edge, build a fanbase across the 'net... I bet given enough time, fame and polish this would be the sort of thing Channel 4 or Bravo or some such channel would pick up - god knows that even after the pilot episode I already know I'd rather watch it than Gamer.TV or Ultimate Gamer, or any other piece of pap currently grabbing air time.
