It looks ace, I like the female character with long white hair.

Was it my imagination or does she have a tail? She looks like a cross between catwoman and storm from the X-men. :D

I like the guy who looks like a cross bewtween Edgar and Setzer in FFVI.

Guest Two Heavens

She's a Viera, like wot's in FFTA.

It's looking pretty good. Just the idea of it having anything to do with Vagrant Story whatsoever means I'm getting excited about it.

It's mostly old stuff, I think there was a couple new pieces.Still it's worth watching. It's definitely one of my most anticipated games and the fact that it looks similar to Vagrant story is making is making me want it even more.

I think it might be time for me to buy a chipped PS2.

If anyone's still having problems with download speeds/registration, the vid is on games radar as well.

I agree there's a definite striking Vagrant Story style influence, which I don't know is a good thing or not, not 'zany' enough for a Japanese RPG in my opinion. But still, it's very early days yet.

I saw a Famitsu trailer a few weeks back, and it looked really good... kinda lost faith in FF recently, but XII looks quite lovely indeed. Just hope there's less linearity than X, that's my only real gripe. And that they story is entertaining.

They've got Mr. Vagrant Story/ FFT in charge of the project. We can but hope!

True - the influence is quite remarkable. The emphasis on big armies and general warfare should prove to be a great backdrop. Wonder how the battle system will translate too, that'll be very interesting.

In that video, the (short) battle clip shown appears to be in a similar vein to FFX-2's 'active' turn system- which I'm still adjusting to after FFX's 'take-your-time-make-a-cup-of-tea' approach.

Looks very nice. God bless Square; despite any technical limitations they may come up against, they always create some of the most breathtakingly beautiful 3 (and 2) dimensional graphics and animation ever.

You're not all bad are you Sprite?

:(

I have to agree, it looks fantastic.

Looks nice. I'd still like another 'cyber-punky' FF, but I guess X and X-2 both fell into that catagory so I can't complain. Vagrant story had a superb plot and script, I hope XII can match it at least. I agree, the main character does look a tad pig-like though....

The artwork though seems a cross between a medieval FF and a futuristic one (didn't you see the giant space ships?) so it is kinda cyber-punky.

I think thats something Square do really well in their artwork - the contrast and dicotomy between the modern (or futuristic) and the past.

Not that that needed pointing out, but I really like the art direction in 12.

the last three or four games have had that 'magical' look/feel to them

Yes, I agree with that. While still good, there's only so much 'medieval style' dungeon bashing you can do. The thing I loved about VII, VIII and X was that they always had a healthy mix of magic and technology. Now the series seems to be leaning more in favour of simple 'dungeons and dragons' style stories (though that is generalising things somewhat).
