Which one? Gamecube version? (Wonderful Life is it?)

I'll see what you make of it. I keep umm-ing and ahh-ing over it.

Me too, I've heard that it's much more fiddly than the GBA one which was on the fiddly/insane threshold.

The GBA version is still providing me with muchos fun, I'm at the beginning of the first summer and I still have fuck all money-wise. I'm sticking with it, but I want more moolah! :P

Why is the GC one supposed to be more fiddly? Micromanagement? I can't be doing with too much of that wack sheeit.

Fall is the best time to make money through crops.Buy as many sweet potatoes as you can, They grow back after you've harvested them and the do that right the way through the season. They regrow every 3 days and you get 300g per potato.I think i made 40'000 throughout the fall.

You have to feed yourself again, WHich can be a pain in the arse if you forget.Planted seeds only yield one crop.Soil has diefferen't fertility meaning your crops may not grow in the right patch. It's just alot more complicated.Although i'm not complaining as i love all that sort of thing and i can't wait for this game.

aaaand you have to sell your goods at a stall plus its one seed per bit of land and your field is tiny etc etc..

I love the GBA version but that is too much for me!

That's one idea i don't like.Getting rid of the shops was a silly idea and i'd love to know their reason for doing so.

I think this game will put off alot of players of the GBA game when they realise how complicated they've made it.

I wonder how well it'll do over here anyway?

I can see the GBA one bombing just because it looks like a budget title for 5 year olds, and then the parents either go Farming??? and put it back or buy it then the kid plays it hand hates it, it gets taken back to the shop and they whine Faaarrrrming  at the cashier and expect a cash refund.

My mate switched my SP on the other day, expecting it to be Final Fight - instead he got Harvest Moon. "What the fuck is this shite?" I think was his initial response. I tried for about half an hour to explain why a farming game was fun.. Fighting a lost cause, unfortunately.

It's another one of those games that everyone will ignore. Oh goody - more incentive to not release anything special over here! :P

Just read the Edge review, according to that, there is less emphasis on farming, more on friendships, selling things on your own stall and stuff.

You can complete chores by lunchtime.

Obviously, when you have tons and tons of things to do it'll take longer.

I like the idea of planting in the correct soil types and stuff. Makes you think rather than throwing seeds about all over the place.

I loved the Gameboy Color version of this. I can remember lying in bed at 3am still playing it, just doing one more day, over and over again.

I've got the Edge review sitting on my desk just itching to be read. I might try to secretly read it when no-one is looking...

It's a really positive review.

I don't think they mentioned anything bad.

Go for a toilet break, smuggle the mag with you under your shirt!

The sad thing is, even the reps for this game say its shite, or may as well.

When they came into work with the promotional gubbins and to tell us about the upcoming games. They basically said it was shite. Saying things like, this is an exciting farming simulation game which is sure to sell well. All that with no entusiasm, I'm sure their supposed to be enthusiastic.

On another note. I've ordered my copy of this, can't wait for it. Ever since playing the SNES version I've been a massive Harvest Moon fan. Had the GBA version since it's US release and I'm still only in my 2nd year, Winter! Its massive! So much to do and see!

I was looking at getting either the GC or GBA version, but not really both. But I could be tempted as it's the perfect "long boring train journey" game (which I do at least once a week).

I'd be interested to hear the differences between the two.

I tried! The thing is, it IS hard to actually make the game sound good. I've tried several times to explain it to my friends and they just reply with, "sounds like crap" or "it seems a bit boring".

I reviewed the GBA version about 2 weeks ago here:

so that's as good a place as any to start? *shrug*

Sorry, should have been more clear. I've read a few reviews of both and know that they're good titles. I'd like to hear from someone who's played both and can offer some opinions/comparisons. I can see how a mobile version could be really good, but at the same time, I like to chill out at home with Animal Crossing on the big screen. Choices Choices

Ahahaha it's certainly not a hangover game....

tyagi - The GBA one is probably a lot more fun as you don't have to manually feed yourself and you can ship all your goods in a shipping bin without worrying about them. The mechanics for growing crops is also easier and so you have a lot more time to run around and do stuff. The GC version is very pretty and charming but it's a lot more involved, and that's saying something for a Harvest Moon game... but you do still have a lot of time to run about doing the funstuff, there's even a Free mode.

I'd say get the GBA version first or get them both through dvdboxoffice or something where both of them together are going to cost the same as the PAL GBA release ha ha ha ha (true though)
