Everything's bump-mapped by the looks of it, and there seems to be more real-time lighting.

well i saw these on the IGN boards first and then remembered that people had linked to the scans on here yesterday. these are only high res versions of those scans so technically who ever posted those beat everyone.

it has a lot more information about the back story of Halo than that video that did the rounds not long ago.

could you imagine if it was called The Crystal Palace? i don't think that would work over here.

EDIT - i'm also suprised no one has talked about this, it's been on the CVG website for two days now.

I remember those two-legged creatures in one of the first bits of Halo footage. Sounds quite cool to mount an animal and ride it while shooting stuff and making stuff blow up.

I'd never seen it before, so maybe some of you havn't. It's a good insight to the creation of halo with like a 'cast commentry' from some of the creators from bungie.

Grabbing now. Bungie.net have a load of old Halo (pre Xbox) screenshots (well, I've not seen 'em before...) showing how godawful the Master Chief looked before his transformation. The evolution of the Elites is much more interesting, I loved the earlier versions where you could see their pokey eyes.

Those ODST guys look cool. "Hell jumpers" - kind of super-tough marines, not augmented like the Spartans though. Basically paratroopers.

When I saw the double-page edge cover where you saw those guys jump out of Pelicans I thought "Yes!". Imagine a level where you start off jumping with these guys and guiding yourself to a Covenant ship, fighting on the surface of the ship a la First Contact before blasting yer way in.

Watching that you can really see how the vehicle integration to the game became so seamless. The vehicle structure seemed pretty much done when it was all thrid-person.

That new screenshot looks great. They're even showing off that funky door again....

The Halo Evolution footage is great only for the developers to take the piss out of what they did previously, even down to no collision on certain objects. I'm sure in The Silent Cartographer, you could drive through some trees. Ooops.
