Batman Begins

Returns was impressive in an aesthetic way (except for the fact there were like seven sets at most) but my main problem was it could have been a great Catwoman film, or a great Penguin film or even a great Max Shreck film but because it had all three of them chewing scenery at once it ended up overlong and bloated.

I really like Batman Returns, actually. More for its visul style than anything else. I'm always that way with Burton flicks. I see him as more of an artist than a director.

I quite the first two Burton films as well. Returns has more a Burton look to it though. For what they are, his Batman movies work well but just weren't dark and gritty enough. Nolan's version seems to be positively dark.

Thinking about it, the amount of positive reaction this movies getting based on preproduction alone, it lkooks like it could reinvigorate the franchise in a massive way. In the same way that catwoman is in production but set in an alternative universe to Batman, whose to say the there won't be a big screen adaptation of Dark Knight Returns? :):)

*smug mode* My mate is working on this at the moment *smug mode off*

I've seen pics of the new Batmobile etc, as I posted aaaaaaaaaaagggges ago....also seen a bit of set stuff...

It's looking damn good....I'd hazard a guess at a darker, more Batman 1 tone, which can only be a good thing. I''ll try and prize more ptentially sackable info from him...

Nonono, a single film would never do it justice. Waht you need is a 4-part TV series with the production values of Band Of Brothers.

But who would play an older Bruce Wayne?

I like your thinking!

Older Bruce - hmmm, that's a toughie. It would to be someone with immense screen presence. Even though he is old, he would have to be almost gargantuan on screen, especially if he was to go up against an older Superman. A bulked up Clint Eastwood comes to mind but I fear he may be too old now.

Maybe even Arnie but that accent is a no no.

Actually thinking about it someone like Jack palance or Kirk Douglas would have been great but sadly they have passed it.

Look what Rutger Hauer writes on his website:

I am staying in the London hotel that I really like. Appartmenthotel. Service is great. They know our biz. Some of you may recall my bathtub adventures. The livingroom is like a home. This time I have one at street level and it's almost like as if I lived here. Classy decorations and furniture. The cables, connections & plugs have been sorted out. Stuff's organized. I spent days to clean up the pc as well. Later at night I get company. Walt D would have enjoyed. Along the edge of the carpet is a mouse who's checking out the new tenant. After having taken a good look minnie/mickey does a quick 180° and disappears. I'm wondering what pissed her/him off but over the next three days I get other encounters. Just like this. Show up, look, think and gone.Maybe he's on his way to the kitchen. But that's one lower floor.

All week the hours were spent in the excited "acting the part" fashion last few days. The cameo has a good solid structure but lacks character and I was able to drift to a horizon I saw in the back of my head because the director pushed me to explore and go there. Which is always exciting & scary. Exciting because you are allowd to go there and scary because your are not that secure. I found the "key" to my position/part at the end of the second day. That is so great as well. It's one of the things I enjoy with vigour. "The key" is all you need, after that it is about balance and refinement. Big,sensational grand sets. Moody, art deco, impressive.

Art department worked miracles for the great visual richness. Had some smirkyness going with Christian Bale. We have one big problem that occurs. Noise. It interferes. It seems to be coming from a natural cause and I'm not talking about rain/hail/or broken limbs. We are inside. On the studio sound stage in Shepperton. It's a beautiful day outside. About to become spring here. That's what it is. We'd try shooting with the noise but the sound department has problems. It's too loud. Seems to come from high up somewhere. Stage-hands climb up to the ceiling, between cables, lights and set-pieces. I turns out that way above us, under the same roof, pigeons are having a little foreplay. This can stretch into days as thousands of dollars keep "flying" away. One of the boys figures that a blast of the loud heaters may bring a momentary halt in "loverslane". At least long enough to get a few takes! We try and finally we get what we need in the can. The pigeons may have heard the producers prayers.

When I go to bed, exhausted, that night and have shut off the lights there is a new noise in the room. How to discribe it. Not like the pigeons. More like champagne corks in a boxing match. X rated. I figure it out. It's almost spring. Minnie and Mickey have decided that my bedroom is the best place to make more mice. I won't tell anyone. Not. Now I have a few weeks off....

I agree with CHUD's Nunziata's opinion:

"Unless someone got into the official site for the upcoming Batman Begins and pulled all sorts of wool over all sorts of eyes, the mysterious ride pictured above is indeed the Batmobile. Personally, I think it's perfect. The important things to consider with a vehicle like Batman's is that it's functional and also plausible. This is both. It's sleek let rugged, seems like something the military would design, and comes complete with a 10-disc CD changer. I always watched the Tim Burton films wondering how in the heck a guy could have a secret identity when he's driving a vehicle that would require hundreds of top designers and cash only a Bruce Wayne could carry."

It pisses on the Burton Batmobile from a great height imo.

Agreed. Much as I like the Burtonmobile, this one is definitely more threatening. Very 'Dark Knight...'.

But that makes no sense at all. Surely the new car is just as likely to ring a few alarm bells down at Ford, and cost the same sort of money especially when it

seems like something the military would design.

Not to mention all the computer equipment, weapons, batsuits, and other vehicles that he ponces about in. I'm sure one of them would put two and two together.

Another order for 10 batsuits from Wayne Manor. Hmmmm...
An order for a lifting body called The Batwing, from Bruce Wayne. Hmmmm.....

I think it’s excellent. It looks functional and unstoppable which is what the batmobile should be. Plus it's a bit intimidating too. I always thought the Burton Batmobiles were a little ludicrous with lots of fancy unneeded crap all over the car. Batman doesn’t need his cars to look cool, that’s almost out of character for him if you think about it.

Just read a batman book called tenses. Anyone else read it? It's about Bruce Wayne’s first year as Batman and as the head of Wayne Enterprises. Absolutely brilliant. I much preferred it to The Dark Knight Returns. The artwork is like the animated cartoon too.

I agree. Burton's Batmobile couldn't even corner without shooting a wire.

Who wrote Tenses? Sounds interesting. I've read that the finale to the Azarello/Risso arc is brilliant as well.

After seeing Gangs Of New York I thought a beefed up Daniel Day Lewis. You could guarentee he would *become* the Dark Knight.

Batmobile looks the shit, btw.
