Hey, I don't want that to happen, but that's the perception I get the way things are going.

bullshit. the industry enjoys nintendo's unique games as much as we do. sony would kill to have some of the licences on their hardware.

Game are definitely reducing the shelf space for GC stuff

Nintendo need to have a good E3 to regain some momentum

I'm sure they just have given up on Britain by now. Might as well concentrate on the USA, Japan and other parts of Europe where they're doing fine.

Thats GAME though. I think most Nintendo fans shop at indies. Most indies I've been in have the same shelve size allocation as the other formats.

How do you work that out?

I imagine that most gamers shop at Game, Gamestation, HMV or Virgin.

Do you seriously think GC owners are some sort of special breed that don't shop at the big chains?

Oh yeah, different class.

I'm just going from what I see, people I know always shop at our local indie always. Not only that, but our local GAME store has dire GC sales, even when big new titles are released. Whereas the indie I work at seems to sell shit loads.

The smaller shelve space is warranted in my opinion. A lot of GC owners know what game they want before they enter the shop, so smaller space=easier to find. A load of PS2 and Xbox owners ask me what they should buy, or is this any good.

It's weird, only recently, people were praising the quality of EA's recent releases.

Now they are shrinking their Gc support, people are slagging them off.. weird eh?

No Fifa is a huge HUUUGE loss for the GC. Its games like this, that will attract the casual. They will look atthe console, and see that they cant get Fifa2010 for it, and wont buy it because of this.

To be honest, he has a point here. Just.

The GC section in HMV in southampton is appalling. Hardly anything there. The same goes for all 3 Games.

It's getting to the situation, where Indy retailers are having a better range of stock (for instance the GC bb adaptor) than the mainstream retailers.

Where do you think this whole lets-make-perception-reality cycle started? Retailers don't want to stock three machines so they've been jumping on any excuse to push out the GC. The trade press have loyally contributed to this process.

Its only the Euro 2004 game thats been cancelled so far. No reason to believe the usual FIFA 200X game won't be coming out for Xmas is there?

Mainstream gamers don't 'do' esoteric, unfortunately.

That's what is going to cripple this industry.

Cater for the gamers who like the weird, orignal titles, and sell a few thousand copies? Or create a generic rip off of the current big thing and sell a few million? Either way, we'll loose out in the end. Why cater for 10% of the audience when you can cater for 90%?

"Boo hoo, EA aren't releasing thier yearly cash-in on the Cube..."

Biting sarcasm, there. Yes, who cares about Fifa? No-one, really. No-one here anyway. BUT, it's still rather bad, isn't it? EA are the biggest third party games company (are they? Sega haven't shoved them to the floor yet, have they?) so not releasing their biggest profile (UK) game on the system doesn't bode well. Soon they'll pull James Bond games, Need For Speed, and Harry Potter games, and where will that leave us? Unaffected, presumably. But... oh, I don't know. I'm drunk.

I just think people who write things like 'Oooh, I'll miss that game </sarcasm>' are missing the point somewhat.

Weirdly, people keep mentioning FIFA. It's opportunist-FIFA'04-rerelease Euro 2004 that's been shelved, not FIFA 2005.

Yes, I pointed that out above but people ignored it and kept banging on about how "EA have cancelled FIFA".

well this is the same forum that gets 3 pages complaining about the price of GT4 Prologue when it's not even announced yet. :)

To be honest I think I'd be more likely to moan at GAME's prices. They stuck GT Concept up for £30 intially...
