What do you mean this is finished?

And no, it wasn't easy.

It bloody well wasn't. Well not as the first thing you have to do, before you even get a whiff of a proper mission. It's a miracle anybody actually played further than an appalling FMV video and that level. If I hadn't read some good reviews of it, and paid money for it, I don't think I would have to be honest...

Strange. I don't recall ever encountering the bugs you talk about in Driver, like falling through the road or over water or whatever.

But I did also hate the garage bit. I ended up bypassing that with an Action Replay. Whose stupid idea was it to set such a hard task before you can actually play the game? And it's not like you actually had to really do much of that stuff or with as much precision in the game afterwards either.

I've saved an excellent replay of me driving into a building and finding it empty and with a see-through floor.

The bugs that threw you 50 feet into the air were funny too! :)

Game X, getting a release date soon... unfortunately.

Are you sure you've played the finished version? Are you sure that no more polishing or tidying up will take place before the game is released?

I only ask out of interest, like.

I never got out of the stupid garage. Worst bit of game design ever.

Thank you! I thought I was the only person who gave up on that game because of that. I was really glad I picked it up on budget and didn't pay full price for it!

hmm probably a long shot, but could it be Red dead revolver (or whatever it's called)?

The thread's subtitle could mean.... and with the recent anticipation thread.... <_<

I'd have a wager that this is the game he means.

all the clues fit.

Well I hope it's not Transformers. Thats the only game I've been looking forward too for ages.

Then again, I've been away from new releases for a while now.

.::: The first code I played from that was far from finished (all the sounds ad stuff was gone), and even that was a joy to play. The playable demo we have in the shop also tells otherwise. I'm pretty confident it's not Transfomers (then again maybe the little monkey is an Armored Core-fanboy <_<).

It took me about a week to get out of that garage.

Driver 1 was painful, spent most of my time squinting at the map.

In edges preview of driver 3 when that guy is talking about the importance of the fmv sequences, I really wanted to punch him.

He obvioulsy really wants to be in the movie business, but sadly no, he is making games and lack of ideas cannot be papered over with fmv and high production values.

Ahem. sorry about that I havent even seen driver 3s cut scenes however:

Cheesy FMV scenes that take themselves really seriously are the worst thing about computer games. I really think this idea is of trying to copy films in a attempt to be taken seriously is wrong, games are not films they are games, and trying to make a game like a film is like trying to fit a round thing in a square thingy.

Sorry about mental rant.

Regarding "seals of approval" Edge made the point a little while back that, even if they were properly enforced to stamp out bugs etc. (and for the most part this seems to happen with GC titles, aside from the infamous Prime I've not had a single crash), we'd still get a world of titles with high production values and variable gameplay.

Out of interest what are all these bugs in Prime? I have the US version from release date, put in 30 hours into it so far, and have experienced the "Elevator Freeze" bug once. Hardly makes it imfamous IMHO. Or is this like GTA:Vice City being "unplayable due to its bugs".
