is it me or is legendary really not that hard? i'm normally quite shit at games but after completing halo on heroic without too much hassle. and legendary, though it took quite a long time, never had me really stuck. maybe because it just 'clicked' with me like no other game before it.

Once I cleared Truth and Reconciliation, I found Legendary Halo a walk in the park, too (bar one or two minor hiccups). In Legendary it tends to be the levels with lots of open space that are difficult, where the enemy will quickly flank you and your only option is to be quick and daring. Corridors are generally piss easy - just grenade, grenade, grenade and they can't jump out of the way. And the flood is just childsplay as there's next to no AI going on.

It's like any other game - play it enough and you'll suss out what works and what doesn't. I found it tough to begin with but then I learnt to tackle it in a different way. Running around like a gun-toting loon was no longer an option - you just have to approach each battle in a slightly more reserved fashion. Thankfully, you're free to proceed at your own pace (bar the final run, of course.)

The biggest compliment I can pay Legendary is that it never feels arbitrarily unfair. It's challenging certainly, but if you you're smarter than the average bear it's actually quite straightforward. With the exception of Truth and Reconciliation - which is bastard hard - I can do the first five levels without dying.

Sometimes.

too true. thinking about it, i'll have to play halo 2 on legendary from the beginning to see whether i'm really that good at the original just because i know the levels so well, or because my mad skillz really are that mad. for this reason i'm creaming my pants in anticipation simply for a whole new set of levels to play around in. throw in all the extra stuff and i'm positive halo 2 will be the thing to make my life complete.

New Halo 2 Screen

Not wanting to sound too fanboyish, but after watching the (amazing) trailer for the gazillionth time today, Halo 2 is the only game I literally cannot wait to play. A lot of people say they can't wait for the sake of it, but I seriously need to play this now. I thought I'd grown out of being so excited about game releases, but never has waiting for a game felt so crushingly detrimental to my mental health.

Quite unbelievably (though the thought had crossed my mind) I happen to have a friend who is talking about quitting his job when this comes out. They guy has steamed through Legendary so many times now and he's by far the best Halo player I've ever seen. The word "dedication" doesn't do this guy justice: if you're in the Coventry area and see a scrawny little yelp with a different home-made Halo T-shirt on every time you see him, just shout "Halo" - involuntary spasming will follow, and a frantic young man will approach you asking if you fancy a LAN party.

He's also been known to sing the title screen music on public transport and similiarly public areas in the vain hope he can recruit more people to his cause.

All hail my mate Gommy.

It's easy now. I play it all the time on Legendary. You can't just bust into a new room / area and get away with it. Knowing the weapons is crucial too.

Heh, I've found myself wondering much the same thing - whether the relative ease with which I can blitz Legendary is down to natural ability, or simply knowing what's around the next corner. I suspect Halo 2's Legendary setting may prove to be a rather brutal eye-opener.

I just hope I have time to play. I don't have the same kind of 'no responsibility' job I used to.

Weekends will be booked till 2005 (if it comes out before then!)

This.

And not sleep.

Then go online and whip some serious assage.

Then cry like a little girl.
