Great Gaming Moments

There was nothing quite like it...the first time you saw someone ride past on a bike. You just HAD to have it...

For me it was a big old Harley-alike. Firing up the vehicle I was away. Sitting back, enjoying the ride, swerving around the pedestrian traffic...and then a junction! Pulling the handbrake button, the back end swung around, leg outstretched, sliiiiiiiiiiiding magnificently. Poetry.

But then, of course, I discovered the PCJ 600. Speed. Danger. Crashes! Losing 40/50/60% health in one bone shattering accident!

But the speed. And the wheelies, and the stoppies. Taking the beast onto the beach, reversing the camera, and driving blind as the wind whips up Tommy's clothes.

Stunts! Jumping buildings, just scraping the edge and making it...or hitting the wall and plummeting to the ground.

Finally, discovering that with an Uzi you could shoot straight out in front of the bike...let the mayhem commence!

Good times. <_<

I was doing that mission where you have to pick up Mercedes and take her to "do" Love Fist. I thought I'd turn up on a PCJ, to look all stylish like.

So there I was, cruising through town with a babe on the back of my bike, in the midnight glow of Vice City, when I lost control approaching a bridge and catapulted us both into the sea.

My favourite motor cycle moment was the mission where you’re double crossed by the Haitians and you have to chase the guy through the alleys on your bike. I’m flying down the ally firing like maniac, then I notice the fire escape stairs.

I floor it and barrel up the stairs, sail through the air, get an insane stunt bonus, land on the roof, drive of the roof, land back in the ally, right on the Haitians tail and blast his sorry self. Pick up my bag of stolen cash and cruise back to base.

All to the sound of ‘Come of feel the noize’.

Straight out of the hotel, walking along that beach-side road, I saw a PCJ-600 coming towards me. I did that flying kick/twist in mid-air/sit down and ride off move that Mr Vercetti is so fond of doing. It was bloody great.

And then I just sped down that same road, before crashing into the side of some vehicle at a junction.

It was his fault, so I chased the bastard down and kicked him to death. And nicked his wallet.

:D

Much of the fun I had in Vice City simply came from whizzing around on a PCJ 600 looking for ramps to jump off. One time I accidently ignited the bike's fuel tank by hitting a ramp at full speed. The cutscene kicked in and I was treated with a fantastically cinematic image - a big, fat flaming vapour trail following my bike as it sailed through the air.

A shame that Insane Jumps weren't marked off the map. I still have a few outstanding jumps to find. And a few more packages... no guide has been used though, go me!

PCJ Playground was an achievement when I completed that.... there were so many little things to watch for and hit at the right speed.

Oooh, I just can't quite do that. The last checkpoint is a bugger to get. Brilliant fun though. I like to try to do 360 degree mid-air turns on the bigger jumps. Usually fall off though.

I did one on a PCJ, landed it but lost control 2secs later going over a curb which forced me to slam against a wall :D

Honest guv I landed it!

What I really want to do is a stoppie past another motorcyclist, shooting him with the uzi as I skid past, like in Mission Impossible 2. Requires co-ordination beyond my abilities, though.

This week, I deleted my GTA3 save and went back to Liberty City, two years (more or less) since I last played it. It's been a lot of fun - and not as hard as I remember - but jinkies, I don't half miss the bikes from Vice City. If it'd had bikes in it, it could well have doubled the game's lifespan as I'd just be racing about leaping all over the place (LC is undoubtedly more interesting than VC in terms of landscape/architecture)

The handling of the bike was quite weird - I kept falling off a lot, then all of a sudden it just clicked and I was doing all kinds of crazy stuff. There were some brilliant missions with the bike too, especially the one involving Ms. Suxx and a huge projector (f'nar)...

I did that entire mission in a helicopter. I had one when I started the mission so just did it all using the 'copter.

Wish I had done it using the bike now :(

Using the bike it was one of the most fun things I've played in a game.. Lotsa fun, not too easy, but not so hard you want to kill people when you fall off.
