Consolevania 2 Is Ready

This high speed was for the start and the widely available pieces it seems, my download has now settled to 25/40 kb/s. I have massive upload so I tend to get favoured by most bittorrent clients.

It's interesting that you can see how far everyone has got. You are on 44.6% as I type this, you had 10meg from me and I've had 2.73 meg from you. Not fair :)

I got CV1 last month and I loved every minute of it, I was so pleased with it that if I was George Foreman I’d have put my name on it! Seriously it’s a great show I’ve watched it a couple of times and I sent a few VCDs of it around the country to my non-broadband friends and they all reported back they’d like CV2 on VCD too, hope you guys don’t mind me spreading the goodness of Consolevania, I’m not making money or owt it’s all free, they just pay £20 P&P .... :) j/k

Just under 3hrs to go ‘till the download of CV2 is complete, can’t wait to see what it’s like.

Cheers guys

if it just crashed you should be able to continue if you load up the torrent again, the file bits don't normall get deleted.

I think a lot of people must be downloading this without opening up the bandwidth. I'm only getting 20kb/sec, 30kb/sec has been my 'record' so far... I know some people are generously seeding but can other downloads PLEASE not leech...

Good news - Bittorrent, which has not worked since last academic year :( has burst into life. This is a good thing all round - I get to watch CV2, and you lot get to leech of a 10Mbit pipe :D

[edit]Thanks for the offer Tyagi! ;)

Hope Uni Computing don't decide to cut me off for using such a vicious evil filesharing medium :(

I am now seeing around 20 complete seed on the torrent. This is fantastic. Please keep your clients open and also ensure that you have not configured any artificial restrictions on the "upload" settings. Such settings will prevent you from contributing to the torrent. If you've got good reason for restricting (as some people have), fair enough.

Thanks to everyone for being helpful today, the torrent approach has been much more successful in getting Consolevania distributed for Episode 2. Next time should be even easier.

If I set upload speed to unlimited it uploads at about 30k(ish). But that KILLS download for me, even browsing. Limiting it to 16K seems fine. I'm on a 1meg NTL cable modem.

On the subject of upload restrictions. I restrict my upload to 10K/s, a couple of K/s short of my upload maximum. This way bt doesn't completely swamp my connection, which means I can still use the web with no ill efffects. If anyone finds that leaving it seeding is buggering up everything else, then a sensibly limited upload is better than no seed at all.

yoinks - me too. I'm certain that there's some kind of thing in our T's & C's about being used as a server, though. Plus ll that shit about 1 gig a day cap. which scares me about downloading this, as I've been on live for a bit, and downloaded a demo or too.

I hate NTl.

I'm throttling my upload from 75 to 10 in a moment because I'm going to play Steel Battalion for a while and that really needs all the upload it can get. I'm almost at a share ratio of 2.7 now, so I'm think I'm forgiven. Will put it back up when I go to sleep and will keep seeding for a few days.

Well, it's been running all the time I've been out at work, and while it never ULs much above 15kbps or DLs much above 8kbps (512kbps cable so I can't expect a whole lot more), it's about a third done now. I should be watching it by the end of the week.

I think layte100 says he's on NTL and uses bt a lot and has never had a problem, so I wouldn't worry too much Harvest.

Alex: are you sure you've "opened your ports"? I'd have thought with all these seeds you could expect better d/l speeds. There are a bunch of threads explaining what to do if you're new to all this bt bollocks.

I added a couple of ports in BT's port range to the oddly named list of ports in Norton Internet Security Firewall... should I add more or do something else with Internet Security or what? Bear in mind that I'm connecting to the internet over a LAN through the PC with the firewall.
