In the mood for Zombies

What with Shaun and Dawn of the Dead in the cinemas, and that new Resident Evil on the way, I'm in a zombie mood.

I've only got the original for the PSone though.

Is it worth it buying the REmake, GC RE 0, 2, and loads more? I loved the first, fancy the series, but not sure whether it's worth getting the lot.

RE Remake, Zero and CV are all available cheaply for the 'Cube and well worth picking up.

If looking for RE2 and 3 you'd probably be cheaper picking up the original Playstation versions, as the 'Cube versions are pretty rough around the edges by todays standard.

aren't they exactly the same as the originals?

Now is probably one of the best times to get ino the series further - REmake and Resi 0 can be bought VERY cheaply indeed (saw REmake on sale in Gamestation for a whopping £7.99 today), Resi 2 and 3 can be got very cheaply even on Gamecube and Code Veronica can be gotten on DC, PS2 and GC cheaply too. You could potentially get the whole series on Gamecube for a very reasonable amount indeed.

Hmm. Last I saw REmake and RE0 was about £12 each in Game, which isn't a bad price. That's £24. RE2&3 would set me back about £20 on the PS2, then there's just RE:CV (about £15, I guess).

£60 for the lot, roughly.

Or have I missed any (Survivor counts for nowt)?

Bought them all. RE and RE0 for £40 each ( at release ). £15 for RE3 and £20 for RECV

Only need RE2 and RE4 to complete the set.

They really are good games, mind. And if you're slow like me, it'll last you quite a while ( only finished RE a week back, making good progress on RE0 though ).

And once you've passed a certain amount of zombies and mutated sharks, snakes, ants, pandas, you'll grow used to them, hence lowering the fear.

Although RE0 does have all those bugs...and gorillas..oh dear...

Yea, Mikamis obsession with fucking stupid looking giant insects/animals has to end... the ones from RE4 look passable (although the water monster looks like veering off into B-movie territories), but I'd rather they weren't there at all really. The Hunters worked, and the Tyrant is very cool, but just taking regular animals, increasing them in size and having green and/or red stuff collecting around their snarlng mouths just doesn't cut the mustard with me.

Best to go with the second and third games on the PS from there, I reckon. The remake actually manages to make the inventory management gameplay worse while slapping you in the face with jaw-dropping graphics which make a mockery of the turd-like gameplay.

I'm gonna have to pimp TimeSplitters/ TS2. Zombies galore, and loads of fun weapons to blast them with. What's that? Twin shotguns? Limpet mines? Mmm, please.

I didn't know Timesplitters was a zombie shooting game. Guess that's why they used it in Shaun of the Dead then.

I've also gone a bit zombie mad recently, and have dusted of a virtually untouched copy of REmake. It's great. Well, its exactly what I expected, but still great. I may even go back to CV one day as well.

You can get the Xbox version of TS2 for a fiver at Game right now with a reward card I think.

I might pop into town tommorow and see if I can rustle up the PS2 version (which actually controls half decently) for a similar price.

Not really in the mood for an RE game right now...except RE4 of course.

A great series of games

I would have to say that 2 was my favourite, I was very disappointed that Capcom chose not to remake it for the Cube

I could have said exactly the same thing, RE2 is the best of the series in terms of gameplay and fun, fun, fun
