I finally tried out Mr Driller Ace and last night I couldn't stop playing it for about an hour. That's a lot of games of it actually :P

There's an english language patch for essential text if you need it. I love the RPG mode and how you lose oxygen getting back up instead of lives, and how the levels therefore are very much deeper.

Hmm, that's it. I'm aware that there's another thread on Mr Driller, but it's about Driller 2 coming out..

It's a puzzle game where you play as a miner going straight downwards through different coloured blocks. You have to conserve energy by making lots of the same coloured blocks fall on each other while you avoid being crushed so they do your work for you and you halso have to find the easiest route down so you don't run out of oxygen through effort. It's like a cross between boulderdash and Puzzle Fighter with a strategy element in the oxygen consumption.

I want this for the GBA - but it sold quickly at only a tenner on the forum :P I believe you can link it up with the GC version (which I have) but I don't know what it unlocks - if anything. I just recall the instruction manual showing the GBA in it.

It unlocks this:

You can transfer your collection of Pacteria to the Drill Land Parade

You can transfer your unlocked Ace items to help you in Drill Land

i played my driller last night actually, not sure if it's the same one you're talking about. seemed a bit meh to be honest.

It's not until you stop just hammering at the button that you realise how amazingly good it is.

Oh, and playing it with maracas is fun as well.

pity it doesn't love the freeloader - prob worth picking up a cheap jap cube :ph34r: for.

The music on Drillland is utterly amazing, yes. Unfortunately, it's so good that it makes me lose concentration.

Yeah don't worry, I take my memory cards out before play! Damn this game needs a US/UK release soon. There's not that much text, it just plain lazy.

Although the dc arcade stick was my peripheral of choice

As for ace - i stuck in around 20 hours of the jap one not understanding a word of it a while back, highly enjoyable

I've got Mr. Driller 2 for the GBA, and, yes, it is very addictive, and cute. A bit too cute in my opinion, especially the intro:

'It's another peaceful day, isn't it poochy?'

'Woof!'

Terrifying.

Quiet, you.

I bloody love Mr Driller. Better than Tetris, it is.
