Watched this episode last night...that fight with the Chicken is one of the best cartoon sequences EVER!

Plenty of great in jokes too, and despite the Simpsonesque Haloween feel, a fantastic all round episode.

Can't wait to get cracking with the rest of series 2!

I'm watching Series 3 at the mo, it's sheer genius. Brian Wallows and Peter Swallows has the Jonbenet Ramsay gag I've been banging on about for ages, it's one of the funniest riskiest things I've ever heard on TV. Also has To Live and Die in Dixie, the episode that really got me into this show.

All for £10.99. Yowzers.

I remember when it first aired over here. On Sky One. It was back to back with the first episode of Futurama. I remember laughing, possibly more than I ever have done at that episode. I still watch that episode more than any others.

It's weird, I look at some of my other comedies: Red Dwarf, Simpsons, etc, and the thought of watching some of those episodes bores me itself. Family Guy so far, for me, has an infinite watchability. I can stick it on anytime, and I can still laugh at every joke. Even the ones I don't get.

It's totally on another level. It's not the best animated, nor does it have the best/most interesting stories. It even rips most of the storylines, quite blatently, from other shows. But it's far and away the funniest. In some places esoteric, and in others only for those who watched 80's American television, but it still manages to give a higher "laugh ratio" than any given program. Ever.

Brain Wallows and Peter's Swallows is the only episode I don't like. It feels like they were aiming for something too different to the usual output. The rest is blatently fantastic.

I only hope that the budget cut for the next series doesn't effect it's quality. Or the massive gap between seasons.

"What part of dip-si-licious vacation don't you understand?"

The Brian part of the story is fairly unpleasant, but the rest is comedy gold.

Just reminded me of one of the moments where the series is inexplicably, incredibly funny even if you're not familiar with the advertisement it's lampooning.

I'd never seen/heard of that advert before. And yet it was one of the funniest moments.

I think I remember in the commentary they nearly didn't put it in because nobody would 'get it'.

Haha, yeah 'twas a moment of purest comedy genius for about 20mins afterwards. Then giggling when it came back to me at random points for a week or so. :)

Valeska kindly made the avatar for me, so many thanks to her again!

Yea Joj wouldn't shut up about it for bloody hours, so I made him that avatar.

Family guy is the funniest thing ever.

Its just... like one of those rare dvd series that you own that you really can watch over and over without ever getting sick of.

I remember that, too. Futurama was fairly new around that point aswell. I only watched Family Guy cos there was nothing else on, and I was completely blown away by it.

I stumbled across this site:

A prize line from this episode which I loved:

When Asian Reporter Trisha Takanawa is being eaten by Tom and Diane, and Peter remarks "They'll just be hungry again in an hour" is in reference to the widly agreed on opinion that Chinese food won't fill you up.

Up there with the "Honey, are you pregnant?" line too ;)

Is it more popular over here than in the US?

Don't think so. Fox are bringing it back from cancellation due to the high sales of DVDs over here and the extremely sucessful reruns on Cartoon Network, which is pretty much unprecedented, and something they'd only do if they thought it was really popular (as TV execs don't like to admit that they fucked up).

Fingers crossed it gets a decent slot. I'm hoping for Sunday night on Fox which the current home of Simpson and Malcolm in the Middle.

Of course what Fox will probably do is put it on Friday nights when the core audience is down the pub, and have it pre-empted by the World Series every week so nobody knows when its on.
