Stars catalogue - I bought something good

No, not at all. That's why I said that the quantities were 'ludicrously limited'. It does have it faults for sure. But is is really 'shit'? Do you think the people who had just scored PoP or BG&E would call it shit?

Fair enough, we both obviously agree that the system could be far, far better. For example, if it was constantly stocked, it would be a fantastic reward system. The speed at which it currently sells out proves that there are plenty of people with stars ready to spend. Perhaps the lucky few don't think it's shit, but I bet they're the small minority :)

Exactly, it's not so black & white as shit/not shit in my book I guess. There is potential for it, it is better than nothing. They just need to find some middle-ground with the stock - everybody accepts that things like PoP & BG&E will have to be limited, but they do need to get much higher volumes of the slightly lower value stuff online IMO.

You could always just say "Fuck you" to Nintendo Europe and import all your games from VGP, save a shed-load of money and not have to worry about this Stars shit any more.

Honestly, Nintendo Europe are idiots. Stop funding their idiocy.

Well maybe incompetence is the wrong word. Why make it so many stars so that you need to buy about £400 worth of games to find that you can't be rewarded for your spending at all?

GAME's Reward Card is shitter. Spend £100, get £2.50 back! To get a game with that, you'd have to buy £1600 worth of games.

£800 if you pre-order. ;)

But GAME are shit, so I don't see the argument here. £39.99 for a new release? Yeah, fuck off.

Save yourself £10 each time, and buy online, or save sometimes around £20, and get it months earlier (especially in the case of Mario Golf) and import.

maybe introduce a system where the more stars you have the eairly you can get your items. Say, 8000 can order in the first hour and onwards, 7000 2 hours later, 6000 3 hours later, 5000 4 hours later so on and so forth. then the people that are more loyal are rewarded as such.

Urm, that's a stupid idea.

The people with more points would buy all the items.

And according to you, being more loyal means being more rich, or working in a games shop (nabbing stars from pre-owned games like I did).

Silly.

That shouldn't happen. But hey, not my fault you buy games from games shops, guffaw!

Yeah, in the independent I work at I only ever take them out of the traded in stuff if they happen to have them in. I'd never take them out of a new one, it's out of order.

i think it's more likely that some clever sod thought he'd buy some new games, keep the stars voucher and take the game back for a refund...

i don't know, but i would imagine most of their staff don't check for the voucher when people bring games back - correct me if i'm wrong ;)

Most probably don't.

I did. And always did. And if it wasn't in good condition, I'd tell them to go away (the game and manual I'm talking about).

Is "No" really the answer?

Why exactly are Nintendo to blame for you being too slow?

Did they take you hostage until everything had sold out? Should, perhaps, they take everybody else hostage until you have had your pick of the limited Stars goodies then?

How many times must we go through this... :D

Rather than taking everyone hostage until I get my pick of the goodies. It would perhaps be easier to simply meet the demands of the thousands of stars accumulated by their customers by providing enough goodies to go around. Crazy thinking , eh?

It should not be a lottery where those lucky enough to check the site within 24 hours of the catalogue update get their hands on the goods. Nintendo are not to blame for me being to slow... they are to blame for not providing a reasonable opportunity to spend my stars.

I use the word "incompetence" because the catalogue has been plagued with these problems since NoE excitedly told us they would be providing 'real' items for purchase at around this time last year. It's a simple supply and demand thing.

Yes, we all know that Sony don't give us any sort of bonus... but in my eyes offering a service and then running it poorly is worse for NoE's reputation than having nothing at all.

Isn't that exactly what I just said though - that they need to beef up the stock levels of the medium-value items (keyrings etc)?

What's not 'real' about PoP? BG&E? X-Men? They are, for the first time ever, adding quality stuff to the catalogue. Progress is being made. And yes it's a supply and demand thing - at the moment the demand far outstrips the supply. It's tough, but that's the situation - everybody is in the same boat. Some get lucky, some don't.

Yes, we all know that Sony don't give us any sort of bonus... but in my eyes offering a service and then running it poorly is worse for NoE's reputation than having nothing at all.

As I said, the service needs tweaking (basically they need to buy more keyrings!) - it's not throughly shit though. That's just an extreme reaction to being too slow this time around IMO :D
