Burnout 3

Yeah so PS2 IGN have a couple of videos up here, two wmvs for non payers and one for insiders that I really want to see. Anyone hosting it yet?

The game looks sensational, the smoke, the sparks the bullet time!

Man if you ain't played Burnout2 go get it and prepare for 3.

Brilliant! Really can't wait, Burnout2 really hit me for 6 I never thought I would be absorbed so much by a racing game since Sega Rally.

Thank God for EA :)

Gametrailers have nought, I was there immediately.

There's no way I'm giving my hard-earned cash to the man (read: IGN).

I'd much rather someone else did and showed me anyway.

E3 tends to be more high-res for insiders though, no?

Seriously though check out the trailers, on the second one I came a little* :)

*may not have happened.........or did it?

At the bottom of the page there's a picture with snow and lens flare beside which it says:

"The first, eye-scorching footage; top quality detail with a higher bitrate. Must see!"

And its insider only.

Now stop arguing Dutch and get me the video! :)

Hey mate, not only am I Dutch I'm also an Insider. So I clicked on it, watched all the stuff there is and they're the same two movies but better quality.

You know, had you said so in the first place you could have saved me some face. Thanks for clearing it up though. Slightly let down, the shot looked like something else.

Ho hum, still those two videos kick the ass!

I am surprised that someone said Burnout2 was shit, I mean it'll never please everyone but it oozes gameplay and looks immense.

I long for this I really do.

Notice how the sparks continue from the collision and bounce on the road for a bit.

am i the only one who thinks burnout2 was shit?

*runs for cover*

No it wasn't shite but I didn't think it was that great at all. I bought the game on the XBox when it was released but ended up taking it back because I really didn't feel it was worth £40. It was fun to play but it just didn't seem to have much of a challenge and it just got a bit boring once the (admittedly cool) crash gimic had warn off. I'm still looking forward to getting Burnout 2 again when it's down to about 20 quid ;)

I thought Need For Speed Underground was worth 40 quid though...

*ducks*

Burnout 2 may have been easy, but did you not just love simply playing it? I'd not had so much fun with a racer since Mario Kart on the SNES.

I did enjoy playing it but found the lack of challenge quicly started to take the enjoyment out of it. I've found I prefer the more 'realistic' racers, having to carefully judge corners, making the right decisions with breaking and timing to shift the weight of the car round corners perfectly makes every corner exciting and a challenge. Burnout's far more more simple arcadey handling just didn't cut it after the novelty of the dangerous driving and crashes had worn off and there was nothing else in the game to keep me interested.

The same is fairly true with Mario Kart (especially with Double Dash) the simple handling means that single player isn't that great and the game only comes alive when you've got some mates playing. As I say I'll buy '2' again when it's on budget but I'm not really excited about Burnout 3.

There was loads of challenge if you looked for it. laps, for starters, and then there was the aceness of a continuous burnout round an entire track. and that was the dictionary definition of 'not easy' on some tracks.

I loved Burnout 2, but something about seeing the name 'EA' on the third incarnation puts me off somewhat, I didn't think much of NFSU, and I do not know if the Xbox version will be optimised (you know who EA has sworn loyalty to) and the whole situation regarding EA and Xbox Live (is that still ongoing?) might do more harm than good.

But, just got FIFA 2004 (no PES on XB yet) and it is good, better than FIFA 2003 which I thought was a massive improvment anyway, looks like EA are actually trying to make decent games.. but.. NFSU, £40, no thanks.

Don't listen to this man. He has no idea what he is talking about. Lack of challenge? Lack of challenge?!?! He was just shit at the game. For god sake it's meant to be like an ARCADE RACER! Don't you get that! If you want all that careful judging shit then stick to your PGR2 rubbish!

Can you trust the opinion of man who like Need for Speed Underground?!?!

And before anyone thinks I'm being too harsh to this guy I know who he is. In fact, as I type this message he is 3 seats away from me. In fact, I think he's giving me some dirty looks. I think he might be gay ;)

firstly i'm not saying burnout 3 will be shit but i feel i should clear up why i didn't like 2.

after hearing loads of good things about it (from this forum mainly) i just wasn't impressed the way i thought i would be. maybe it got over-hyped and i was expecting too much but for me it just lacked feeling. it sort of felt lonely while i was playing it, the sense of immersion wasn't there. also i didn't find it a very deep game, now i know it's supposed to be arcadey but it could still have depth. i also didn't like the handling of the cars, they seemed to float above the road somehow and they didn't feel solid.

anyway, i only really played it for a weekend so i may be way off the mark, maybe i'll give it another go.
