Friends - The One They Ended It All

Am I the only person who didn't like the one where they weren't ready? I just found it annoying and frustrating. But then, I AM Ross. The episodes where's he's trying to hit on girls is just...fantastic.

Ross: (He opens the door while faking a laugh.) Hey! Oh, we-we can't keep eating like this. (Monica turns her head in shame.)

Caitlin: It's uh, $12.50.

Ross: Okay, (gets the money) so, do you make the pizzas in one of those uh, wood-burning ovens?

Caitlin: No actually umm, I think that they're umm, gas.

Ross: Gas? Wow! Intense.

Chandler: (To Monica) If this is the way all the Gellers flirt, we don't have a problem.

Ross: (to Caitlin) Hey uh, y'know that smell gas has?

Caitlin: (wanting more than anything to get the money and leave this horrible, horrible place) Yeah.

Ross: They put that in.

Caitlin: What?!

Ross: The gas is odorless, but they add the smell so you know when there's a leak.

Caitlin: (getting more desperate to leave) Well okay!

Ross: A lot of other gas smells…

Chandler: Oh the humanity.

Ross: Meth-methane smells…

Caitlin: Y'know what umm, actually I, I really, I should go.

Ross: Oh but I-I-I haven't paid you yet!

Caitlin: Y'know what? That's okay, you guys have ordered so many that this one is on me! (Runs for her life.)

(Ross closes the door slowly.)

Ross: (To All) Was I talking to her about gas?

David Schwimmer just makes it what it is. Fantastic actor - well, for the part of Ross anyway, I don't think he's done anything else worth looking at.

Can't remember the episode, but there's a scene where he's helping a woman move in to her flat in the area, and the exchange is something like:

Woman: "Well, you'll have to show me around sometime..."

Ross:"Yeah! You know, there are so many interesting facts about this area...did you know, this was the first street to get underground sewage pipes in the city? before that, the sewage ran through the streets, sometimes reaching knee height! Imagine that...knee high!"

It seems that the writers and producers, realising that they've got six characters in one show that people seem to love, decided that people want a story about them all. Well fuck it, that's not why people started watching in the first place.

Seineld of course being the perfect example of this and the perfect example of a situation comedy - I was speculating last night, whilst watching The Bris, that seinfeld would not have been the succses it was without Michael Richards playing Kramer.

I doubt anyone else could have played Kramer, but as to that being the success, who knows. Seinfeld was great though - even though they had longer running plotlines (George chairing the Susan memorial board, for one), they never interfered.

In Friends, sadly, characters changed. I guess that was a problem of having them all in their 20s to begin with, because you can't have 35 year olds doing that same routine.

I've always felt that Seinfeld had themes as oppossed to plot lines. One thing about Seinfeld/friends is the similarity of supporting actors - The wife is C.Cox - the second hand clothing guy is the Trega (sp) - Russel Dhalrympel is Phoebe's dad... and of course George making an apperance in friends itself. (I'm there were others, but my memory is failing me.)

The thing is with Friends, all the characters have just become extremely silly stereotyped versions of their old selves - and others have changed completely!

Ross was never that... insane (I think his 'rage problem' was the start of that), Chandler was never that caring (until he got together with Monica), Joey is uber-stupid, Phoebe is uber-ditsy, and Monica is uber-power-mad. I think Rachel is the only one who's maintained a constant character throughout.

SERIES 3 FOR TEH WIN!!!1 :D

That's my problem with the later series.

Chandler changing isn't that big a deal really. He was a loser with women and hated himself because of that. Being a sarcastic bastard was his release almost. He doesn't need that so much anymore, seeing how he's happily married.

It's Ross who gets on my tits. It all started, like you say, with the rage thing. He's just too much of an idiot these days. Like rollerblading to work, being unable to go to a tanning salon without coming out half white and half brown. Wearing a stupid fucking armadillo costume and pretending to be Santa's helper. When he's being normal I can find Ross as funny as any of the other characters, but sometimes he's just too bloody stupid and insane, especially given how intelligent he is supposed to be.

Anyway, I've just remembered one of my favourite episodes.

It's the one where Monica goes out with the kid from high school, only she thinks he's about 6 years older. And then everyone is taking the piss out of her, asking if she'll ask her boyfriend who the strongest Power Ranger is, and if he's in bed yet and what have you. :D

The things is I can't see any of these people doing any work that could out do friends.

I mean friends has been running for 10 years and now we all know the actors as their respective parts. Its gonna be hard

I think only Jennifer Aniston will continue to have decent work outside of Friends. The rest will just sit at home enjoying their millions and millions of dollars.

Thats a bit harsh. For Schwimmer I'd say it's probably true. But Anniston is starting to get paid pretty highly for being in movies (I heard $5m+), Matthew Perry has been in a string of decent movies (soon to be in The Whole Ten Yards with Bruce Willis - hardly sitting on the bones of his arse), and whatshername-Phoebe is constantly doing movie work (just check IMDB).

Actually, it's probably worse than that, because the youngest of them (Matt Le Blanc) is 35. The oldest (Phoebe, whatever her name is) is 45!!

Doc reminded me of how much I liked Jon Faverau's character Pete.

After he got beaten to a pulp in the Ultimate Fightng Championship and had both arms in a cast. With both arms out at right angles, he swivels at the wait "You see this? This is my circle of death."

or

"Kids are gonna wonder who would win ina fight, me or Superman. now I'm not saying I could beat Superman but kids are stupid."

Sometimes i find Chandlers sarcasm too much. i also tire of his overly gesticular mannerisms. Although he does have some classics: "Can open, worms everywhere" and "You're supposed to stop the Q-Tip when there's resistence!"

Joey acting nonchalant at the start of the current season had me in stitches "I don't even know what that means!"

Because I think it would be more appropriate in here, considering TV/Film hardly gets a look in, and this has been going on for like 10 years, should give it the respect it deserves and not dump it in a side folder!

Maybe I am wrong, maybe I am right. But I think it should go in here

;)

That is the gayest thing I've read on here in a long time.

Don't have a favourite episode. Most were funny, none cracked me up.

just watched the last eps now.

Yeah it ended nicely, but it could have been better. It was a bit predictable to what was going to happen.

I was thinking perhaps it turns out to all be a dream or something along the lines of the rosanne finale, but i knew it wasnt gonna happen.

The eddie episodes were great, but i do think about 75% of the entire series was really funny. The last series was a bit hit and miss, and the series before was not up to the usual standards - but for a show which has ran this long, they have done a fantastic job and keeping it funny..

I said that ages ago and everyone told me off

I think my favourite line comes from the one where Chandler goes to Joey's family tailor and gets felt up when having his inside-leg measurement taken.

Joey: That's how them measure you for a suit everywhere, right Ross ?

Ross: Absolutely Joey.....IN PRISON !!!

"You're supposed to stop the Q-Tip when there's resistence!"

That's the one line that everyone finds hilarious, that I just don't understand. Q-tip? Eh? Goes straight over my head everytime.

Joey has been the standout character this season. Some of his lines and expressions have had me in stitches.

Matthew Perry is the youngest, at 34, then Jennifer Aniston at 35. Matt Le Blanc is 36, and Lisa Kudrow is the oldest, at 41.
