Hardwired
Kate Beckinsale. There are probably other reasons for seeing it as well, but I've forgotten them. Anyway, it's out this weekend I think. Anybody seen it yet? Is it any good?
xiphoid
sounds like complete shit, but I'll dutifully trot along no doubt.

sandman
I must say, the CGI looks fucking awful - Babylon 5 standard at best Apart from that, this looks pretty good IMHO And, EVERYBODY I KNOW wants to see it - can't remember the last film where that was the case. Liquid Myth
Well, I went to see this last night, and I must say, there certainly is a feeling of CGI overkill throughout. Some parts look convincing enough; others are just too fast for your eyes to keep up with. For what it is, that being a balls out, no brainer action flick, it certainly was quite good. Dracula was totally stupid though.

I know there aren't any spaceships in Van Helsing, but the spaceshippy CGI stuff in Babylon 5 was brill, especially when enormous battleships got cut clean in half by huge thick megalasers. Kerzzzapp!
Luke
My girlfriend and I though this looked like a huge pile of shite when we saw the trailer for it. The Eastern European accents were painfully bad. We were almost tempted to see it just for the ammusment of it being so poor - though we decided it would probably be a waste of money and time, and that it's unlikely the novelty would last for the whole film. Despin
Hey there. I enjoyed it for the sheer spectacle. The cg wasn't too bad at all. I just think the writing was piss poor. The characters were all shitty. Even Van Helsing. Even Jackman couldn't help it. And the actual plot was weak as hell. With all those great horror icons and all that money to play with it could have been so much better. I enjoyed it... But I think is was a waste. And enjoyed the hell out of Deep Rising and the Mummy movies. Despin out.
harlowlad
Frankenstien is just laughable, Dracula moans throughout that he wants kids, the wolfman was ok and Van Helsing just looks ruddy board. Some bits were good, but most were tripe. CGI Overkill.
Tom*
I don't like the way the filmmakers think shooting a CGI werewolf with twin pistols in mid-air in slo-motion looks 'cool'. But then I haven't seen it, so maybe it is the Coolest Thing Ever.
Jumble Jumble
Utter drivel. Saw it last night. The dialogue, oh christ the dialogue! Oh and maybe minor spoilers: what's with the Return Of The Jedi funeral pyre?[spoilers end]
DirkCrisis
Its the closest thing to Castlevania:The motion picture that's available so I'll be seeing it. The Punisher is officially the worst film of the year anyway. Dolph Lundgren must be spinning in his grave.
Vemsie
Dolph Lundgren is dead? I have a soft spot for that film as it was quite close to the comic and had some nice lines. The Lundgren version that is. I still talk to God sometimes, I ask him if what I'm doing is right or wrong, I'm still waiting for an answer, and until I get one, I'll be waiting, watching, THE GUILTY WILL BE PUNISHED! Jake: What the fuck do you call 125 murders in 5 years? The Punisher: Work in progress. Gianni Franco: There's a limit to revenge, you know. The Punisher: I guess I just haven't reached mine yet. [The Punisher is being tortured] Lady Tanaka: Who sent you? The Punisher: Batman. Gianni Franco: Say something. Punisher: Fuck you.

So do I which is why I was distressed to see the remake. There were no rhyming tramps OR ninjas with uzis on slides. I mean where's the artistic integrity? Sorry, I've really dragged this thread OT now

Andy_Why
The Punisher is officially the worst film of the year anyway. Now its not brilliant, I agree, but its about a billion miles away from being the worst film this year. How many films have you seen this year? Wickedkitten
Personally I liked the Punisher for the no brain action flick that it was, but I refuse to go see a movie just because Kate Beckinsale is in it just for the sheer fact that the past 4 she has infested have been dire. I don't have a penis to do the thinking for me see.
picto
Well I enjoyed it. Brainless and disposable to be sure. But, it was fun and kept the pace up almost non-stop. Drac Vs Wolfman was a nice idea though you'd couldn't really see properly. Kate Beckinsale may be a fox but her character just spent the entire film being chased by monsters and saved by Van Helsing. picto
Apparently Adam and Joe reviewed it on their radio show. Something about the CGI being like a child with crayons. Funny? Yes. Accurate? No. TTFN
Chopsocky
Just saw this on the screen and it made me smile on more than one occasion. I hope this movie wasn't trying to be serious as it just came across as extremely cheesy. The voices of Dracula's wives are pure 'adam's family', the friar, the references to James bond and batman, the gadgets etc. The CGi was pretty good too. I can't believe how many bad reviews this is getting, this movie isn't meant to exercise your brain its just plain fun; from the camp dracula right down to the sunset ending. Also Kate Beckinsdale = hot Also speaking of the Punisher i found the best comic evar! Punisher kills the marvel universe
Vemsie
I read that comic. Not exactely brilliant but fun to read once. Ennis really loves his superheroes, doesn't he?

PopeSmokesDope
Sae thislast night and its one of the biggest piles of shit I have had the missfortune to watch. I like the Mummy an Mummy returns, but this was just fucking awful. Bad Points Story Acting SFX (fucking dire) Editing Good Points Kate Beckinsdale I just can't get over how bad the sfx were. For instance, at the start, when van helsing goes up against Mr Hyde, my god. The bit where Hyde is holding him and walking, looks like somehting out of the BBC sfx dept. totally fucking shit. The editing, my god, again, poor, Frankensteins Monster flys through a window lands on some vamp and it imderiatly jumps to some other scene. Van Helsing. So, why was he 600+ years old. Left hand of god?? Eh, whats all that about. I can see where Dracula got imortalaty by forging a deal with the devil, but what baout Van Helsing, is it just accepted that hes imortal or what?? toss toss toss toss. Despin
Hey there. I thought the cg Mr Hyde was fantastic. I was so relieved that they had made much better than it looked it that first trailer. I thought the animation on it was superb too. Despin out.
