The Chronicles of Riddick

Thats one seriously positive review (Gamespot 9.3). Love the sound of the hand to hand combat.

Best of all, Riddick has a few countermoves that he can use against armed and unarmed opponents alike. You can pull these off with proper timing, but since they're executed by pressing the attack button, you'll sometimes land them by accident--which is fine. This is made all the better, perhaps, when you see Riddick suddenly grappling an armed guard and forcing him to blow his own brains out.

B)

Thats one thing I didnt try on the demo.....might have to give it another try and experiment a bit more.

Well it certainly looks great, but it doesn't seem to play much different to any other FPS. Don't get me wrong, that's not necessarily a bad thing, but I'd hold off on the "Halo beater" comments, until the gameplay proves to be more than just run of the mill.

The demo is of an early build, and is apparently fairly poor next to the final release. The demo was very enjoyable, but also quite sloppy. The gun sounds are fantastic though, really meaty.

I should have the game soon...

Crates, air vents, exploding barrels... doesn't do much for me. It looks like an updated Quake 2, and I'm not sold after seeing the firstperson fighting parts. But who knows? I'dve probably hummed about Halo prior to actually playing it.... a sniper rifle and a shotgun, ho hum...

Looks cool actually. One problem though - the aiming cursor in the trailer is a white dot! Hopefully, that'll be fixed (to a fat white circle of course) for the console version.

In the Gamespot review the guy refers to the fact theres no HUD. To check your clip you have to actually look at the gun model and theres no targetting reticule - only the laser sight on your gun.

The more I read and see, the more excited I become. It looks fantastic, the voice acting is awesome, it has a superb script an dialogue apparently, stealth sections that beat most stealth games, ED-209's that you can use as a weapon, weapon counters, and first person fist fighting that actually works.

Same here - it sounds like it's looking for all the world to be something of a sleeper hit, one of those ones that just creeps up and surprises everyone.

Roll on September.

It's out in the UK on 13th August, one day after my Birthday. But I'm getting the US version.

This is what Moriarty had to say bout the film btw:

"In a word... awesome.

Saw it tonight. Loved the shit out of it.

Can't review it till Friday. But I will... and it'll be the first of three Big Summer Sequel reviews in three days.

Loved it. Loved it. Loved it."

It would be really cool if both the film and the game rock the cock.

Isn't David Twohy directing the film? Considering he did Pitch Black and The Arrival (a sorely overlooked great sci-fi film starring Charlie Sheen about aliens in mexico trying to take over the world) I'd be surprised if it's not at least half decent.

Non, I am indeed chipless. Ironic, really - my only import machine is the GC yet there are loads more things on the other two that I want to import instead but I'm just too lazy to get it done...

*looks wistfully at Gradius V and Katathingy Roll'em-up-ii in particular and sobs*

Anyway, wash your mouth out with soap, young man - Goldeneye was aces! James Bond, tank chases, giant satellite dishes, the Divine Famke, marvellous.
