It's an American retail copy running off the disc on a PAL chipped X-Box.

It took me about 2 hours to hammer back to the mines, it's not so bad when you know what you're doing.

it's fixed itself, I loaded a couple of other games to clear the cache, and then tried again, and it worked.

I think I read something over at Xbox-Scene about this.

Something to do with the chip setting the clock to the year 8888, or something, and it mucking up the save.

It doesn't muck up the save, just the game won't run a save if the clock is set to the year 8795 (evox default)

Set the date to 2004 and see if the save loads

Ahh, right I did that, the clock said it was the year 2002. I've changed that now.

Play past that bit without dying, you'll be fine.

You can make a backup of your save before that bit if you wanted to be safe.

I'm on the bit where the bomb has gone off and you're there in the dark with the soldier and you can't go past him or you die and you can't fight him cause if he shoots you you instantly lose all your health. What do I do?? Is this far enough to be past the save bug?

It let me do that after 20 retries Now I'm on a part where i've killed all the aliens but I can't get across the bridge and I can't find an exit, I'll fnd it though

Mine was after that, in the Upper Mines after the room with a mech and some guards.

I think so, you'll know when you get to it.

This bug is pretty bad, it seems to be affecting loads of people. It could just be a problem with chipped machines though, in which case we can't really complain.

It didn't autosave for the whole part before and during the gasleak run for me, the bit where you have to get the package. that was part of the problem
