New Conker TRailer

Capcom seemed to get away with it with Resident Evil, so why shouldn't Rare? It's not as if anyone played the fucking thing the first time round.

Resident Evil was a first generation PSOne game. Conker was an absolute-final generation game from the N64. It was practically Dreamcast level. That's a pretty big difference, and it's got to be a gap of almost 5 years between their releases. The leap from Conker N64 to Conker XBox is big. The leap from RE PSOne to RE GC was absolutely massively huge. And Capcom put a whole bunch of new stuff in there. Rare are barely adding anything.

I suppose my main problem with this game is that it isn't a sequel. Considering how long it's taken them just to get this, why didn't they make a whole new game? A new game with graphics like those, I'd buy in an instant! An old game, I don't really care about. I mean, the MP looks ok, I guess. I didn't think much of the original's but they've obviously worked on it a great deal. But it just seems pretty redundant. I can't see myself playing this Live over Halo 2. And it looks stylistically hideous, especially the Future War bits.

but do you honestly think that it was played by more than a handful of people?

The 100mb video looks fantastic - esp the single player stuff at the end.

From what has been said, the multiplayer game has been the main focus of the title - think of it more in terms of a cutesy Unreal Tournament 2004 - which the Future War section seems to be parodying (along with Halo and obviously T2).

As for the single player mode - it's also been expanded, as well as a total graphics overhaul, there are also extended and new sections to the game (probably based on newer films etc they want to send up - must be a LOTR send up in there at least).

I never actually managed to see an N64 copy on sale anywhere before they were all gone, so I'll certainly be picking this up.

If you've played it before, fine but there seems to be enough extra and addtional content in there to make it worth a look.

So what's your point? I don't care if it sells or not. It may well be a fiscally sound idea, but then lots of things are fiscally sound ideas, and they're still shit. It's a good idea econmically to recycle the Fifa games every year, but it doesn't make them good.

As far as I'm concerned, I've played Conker already. If there was a new Conker on the plate, I'd be interested. But there isn't. To the market that I care about (me), Rare has failed.

I genuinly don't get the point behind this, it's even more of a pointless remake than Twin Snakes which at least updated the originals game mechanics somewhat, this looks shot for shot identical in gameplay to its inspiration and Conker was always pretty insubstantial in that department.

A proper sequal would have been one thing, but the purpose of this game eludes me, it was pretty much as good as it was going to get the first time and updating the graphics won't change the fact that it wasn't that great a game to begin with.

That's rather selfish.

I never played Conker's on the N64, because it was hideously expensive at the time, the N64 was dying and I decided against it. So I'm glad to have a chance to play a fully brushed up version and get a, apparantly, great multiplayer game at the same time. I'm really looking forward to it, and it looks great so far.

Ditto.

The first Rare game for over 4 years that I genuinely want to play.
