Nintendo Conference

Metroid Prime 2 8/10 - More of the same, but still looking good

Starfox 5/10 - Whatever

Resi 4 8/10 - I'm not a fan of the series, but this looks stunning

All-the-stuff-inbetween 6/10 - Seen most of it already.

Nintendo DS 8/10 - Looks intriguing, unfortunately I still don't really see what the hell developers are supposed to do with it. Metroid looks ace though. And WIFI is cool too

Realistic Zelda 10/10 - This is what I wanted the Wind Waker to be. Thank God.

Presentation 9/10 - Started off dull and defiant, but by the end I could add several titles and pieces of hardware to my shopping list, and I had a genuine goose-bump moment with the Zelda Surprise.

Thanks Nintendo :o

very good for me. Nice digs at competetors and some nice points made on inovation.

All in all very good i think. Let battle commence.

To be fair i haven't seen the other two, three (sorry Sega) conferences.

The digs at the competitors annoyed me. It seemed petty.

We reckon that the Metriod they showed wasn't the one playable tomorrow. It looked far beyond the N64. We'll see.

Good news then - I look forward to actually buying some GC games, and it looks like DS vs PSP will be a tough decision for me.

No, a remake of the NES game is what I heard. The original, which was also called just "The Legend of Zelda".

It showed the castle/hub area but there appeared to be several characters flying about instead of just Mario. At least three. 3D Mario and Luigi type affair?

Reading on the website (before it crashed) it appears up to four people can be in the game at one time.

Ah, here we go, from the site...

Super Mario 64x4: The landscape and the characters all look familiar. This is the opening castle area of Super Mario 64, only with a few DS twists thrown in. Up to four players can link up using the wireless capabilities. Players move familiar characters like Mario, Luigi, Yoshi and Wario around the 3-D landscape, exploring and looking for stars. While one screen shows the player’s character position, the other provides an overall map of the area. Touch a spot on the screen to pop the camera over to another player’s position, or to take a close-up look at the castle

was Shigsy's bit about "Not standing still" a coded way of asmitting he's buggering off from Nintendo??

I was thinking he was going to announce his resignation when he started to talk like that! (Cheers Spong :o )

Zelda looked good though, not just the shift in graphical style but the more mature content seemed to make the game look far more 'epic'.

Great conference, I lost my video feed for a bit half way though though, could anyone tell me what the mario game they demonstated on the DS was. A port of Super Mario 64 or a new game?

Looked like a multi-player Super Mario 64.

Metroid DS looked exactly like Metroid Prime GC but to shoot you touch the screen where you want to shoot. They talked about how the DS has 2 new control interfaces: the touch screen and voice recognition. They then said that if you enter an area where a group of people are playing DS multiplayer you can automatically join there game (I think). He then said you could play DS games over the internet (I think). Sounded pretty good.

Could someone post pictures of the graphs that were mentioned earlier please.

Stats fucking rock harder than a rocky fucking rock.

Something about Nintendo's slaes increasing more than its competitors.

Whether this meant a jump of 12 consoles sold to 30 is better in comparison to 7 million to just 10 million, we'll never know.

Yeah, don't get me wrong I still liked it, I just disagreed with the obvious "Windwaker isn't what people wanted" stance of whatshisname's (I never looked) post.

That'll be me, but it wasnt, not for the general public anyways, remember the outcry the first time windwaker was shown? Especially after the loverly realistic zelda shown at the very first E3 for GC? People do like the style, but im sure the general sensus from the public, rather than the hardcore games (which he mentioned at the start) was that maybe they'd prefer a more realistic approach, and hey they have tailored for both, windwaker cel shaded, zelda realistic.

I was intrigued by the stuff about "The DS responds to your voice and your voice alone". Does that mean you can't share it?

It means it's the same old rubbish voice recognition, you have to calibrate it to each voice, so 'yours alone' then someoen else when they've put their profile on too

Nah it just means that all the little kids who buy it can pretent that only they can play it. I would be shocked if Nintendo made it so only one persons voice would be recognised.

Also as I'm not familar with Blue tooth, can you transmit sound though the connection, becuase if you could coupled with the voice thing then maybe Nintendo are plannign some Xbox Live stealen for the DS?

Except there won't be enough memory space for two profiles.

Maybe.

They have screenshots too.
