No Baz, what you are telling us is that your opinion is fact.

There are people out there who are not Nintendo fanboys (at all) and who enjoy this game for what it is - a fantastic, deep multiplayer fighting game.

You are entitled to not like the game for your own reasons but to claim anyone who does enjoys it has either poor taste in games (wtf?) or because they are a bit of a fanboy is delusional.

But it isn't a fact because it's my opinion.

You are entitled to enjoy it for your own reasons, but I thought it was my duty as someone 'in the know' to warn potential buyers that the game hasn't got much to it and isn't really very good when you compare it to other games.

That's cool. I guess I just find it disappointing when I know they could be enjoying themselves even more with a decent fighting game.

The controls are loverly once you know how to use them. Grabbing someone with Z you have two options, hit them or swing them. Its all about timing, pummelling them wont get you anywhere you have to use combos like punch and kicks before throwing something at them, picking it up, using it, then throwing them off the stage. And if you have a projectile weapon you can keep them off the stage.

No you're shit.

At grasping the game/controls. You're probably a nice person in real life.

No, I'm shit in real life too. ;)

Honestly, who puts tiny little itty-bitty ledges with items on them in a game where you can't actually turn on the spot without over-running and flying off in another direction?

Punching, blocking and all that is fine... but moving around - especially when trying to pick up things or position yourself - is absolutely terrible! Were it a straight fighting game, it might not have been so bad.

And jumping too... the way the double-jump just sort of kicks in when you don't want it to, and is never there when you seem to need it. Grrr... Horrid, horrid controls. 'Learn them' my arse.

I got really good at the game during my 6th year at school. We had 4 player battles everyday (no items). After the initial 1 week of random mayhem and adjusting our eyes to the pace of the game we all started to pick our own playing style. Heck I only found out that Link (my character) could hookshot onto the side of the arena after 2 months of play.

So in other words I love the game, but can understand the feeling that it is a bit random.

Good game. Played it to death in single player and multiplayer with a bunch of mates. Controls can be a bit fiddly sometimes, but overrall great fun. Anyone who says otherwise needs to play it in multiplayer a bit more, and learn how to use a specific character.

I always play with the items turned off as they seem to randomise things too much. As for my favourite character, it's a dead heat between Link and Roy...Link has that downward stabbing move, the spin, the hookshoot and those melee weapons, but Roy has the counter, the sword combo thing, he's much more able to get back on the stage and he has that huge insano chargeup sword blast.

Come back when you actually played the game. Why walking/running, if the dorf can dodge like greased lightning? And jumps like a brick? Ever heard of the 3rd jump glitch? He's great when it comes to recovering. I've had many a Link for dinner.

I need to play a match with you now. The showdown between good and evil!

Had a blast at it earlier with one HARDCORE SSB:M person and two other 'have played it' people.

It's overflowing with pick up and play fun, really. I can only see people who don't like it being those that are either into their hardcore, mathematically correct beat-em ups- or those who prefer something with more 'depth' and artistry [essentially the same thing as conventional beat-em ups then <_<].

Whilst we did all kicked throughly beaten by the guy who'd played it for 2 hours every day for a month after it came out, there was still enjoyment and ass kicking generated from the two who only knew the basics.

It was worse for me. I essentially knew what certain moves did, but could never get into the flow enough to execute them properly. It did pay off in the defence side of things, but I didn't seem to be dishing out as much as the rest.

There seems to be very little middle ground in the game, but who can blame them- after developing a game which can be as open to new and expert players as it is?

More to be unlocked than any other game I've ever played.

Darn' Tootin' - I still play this regularly, still love it to death, still unlocking shtuff even to this day. Play regularly with a Pal of similar skill and we get better Vs games on this than any other fighting game; it's always all about strategy and tactics, -plus it's a real show-off's dream. We just LURVE to humiliate each other in all the little clever ways the game provides. Genius.

Deep like a kiddy pool, yo.

This is a myth.

Its much easier for someone who has played the game for hundreds of hours to tell you a game has depth than someone who clearly hasnt saying it hasnt <_<.

Have a look at the various FAQs/strategy writeups all over the internet its proof in itself of the depth of the game.

Alright. It might be "deep", but to me it looks more like "throwing a load of shit at it" type deep rather than coming from a few core gameplay elements which, when changed slightly, lead to millions of possible outcomes. Depth comes from what the players make of it, not a load of characters with a mass of attributes given just for the hell of it.
