The worst reviews of all time

Also Edge's Morrowind review...: 6/10

The review was based on the XBOX version, but I doubt the game is THAT much poorer on the box compared to the PC version. Morrowind deserved at least a 7, maybe even 8!

.::: (O_o)

Go play both vesions then. The Xbox one is truly shocking... Worst bit of software I ahve yet encountered. Not game design, there's nothing wrong with the game but it runs as smoothlyas a a triple bladed razor over goosebumped skin.

And the crashes... OH LORD THE CRASHES!

I agree really - the Xbox one can't touch the PC here. I took it back to Game pretty promptly.

Ohh actually Edge giving Final Fantasty 8 Nine out of Ten was STUPID STUPID STUPID.

And to think Castlevania: SOTN only got 8.

Rolling my eyes!!!111

Nein.

FFVIII is the best, the best.

Surely someone can offer a worse review than my example?

Something which doesn't have spelling or grammatical errors in abundance but is just terrible?

havent read the whole thread yet but the worst review I ever read was the Edge Timesplitters 2 review. For a primarily multiplayer game they obviously hadnt tested it link up and they were so blind to its obvious flaws.

Can't remember the name of the game, but it was in Edge, made by Treasure(nuff said), had a scarf you could slap things with, and got 8/10.

It was possibly the worst game I've ever played. Luckily, I had intended to buy it, but saw it in the video shop.

Freakout, I believe.

Having played TimeSplitters 2 extensively on multiplayer I can't see how the game could be worth anything less than an eight on that alone. It kicks arse in a way that only a frenetic nonsensical twitch-fest can. It's what TimeSplitters is all about, after all.

I remember buying that, twas called Hippa Linda in Japan, and feeling totally betrayed. It was awful. Also Dragon Drive D, yet another blemish on Treasure's normally impressive output.

I'd say the multiplayer is worth at most a 6. It is horrendoulsy flawed in oh so many ways.

In your opinion, it's too flawed to be worth a good score. Edge's review basically mentioned the flaws and the good things and claimed that the good made the flaws entirely overlookable. Therefore: not necessarily a bad review, just one you don't agree with.

Nope.

As a massive thread i started on edge forum stated, the edge review completely missed the massive flaws. Certain games not being playable in team mode, the bug when choosing characters, the home made maps not being playable in link up etc.

It wasnt a bad review cos I disagreed. It was a bad review cos it didnt touch on any of the inherant flaws of the game. because they obviously hadnt playtested it in multiplayer properly.

I win.

Oh, you mean the iLink was bugge(re)d. I wasn't aware of that.

Still doesn't ruin it for the 99% of players who don't use iLink at all, though. ;) And I can't say I noticed any trouble with a lack of team play (that said, I didn't exactly try all the combinations) or any bugs with character selection myself. Flawed, maybe, but still fantastic, IMO.

Worst picture link in the history of ever?

Fucking homophobe

You turned a fair discussion into a willy waving marathon. Posting "I win" comments is tantamount to real life clenched fist victory poses. Supremely gh3y.

I also don't fuck homophobes.

actually, I didnt turn anything into anything. My post was completely on topic aside from the joke 'I win' comment at the end. I was simply pointing out to alex W that it wasnt my disagreeing with the review that made it terrible, it was factual innacuracies.

the only thing that has 'turned' this thread is you making a post consisting ONLY of insult and offering nothing constructive at all.

Pot, meet kettle.

3-0

P.S. that was aimed at Cac, although i'm not too sure what '...' contributes, other than an extra 1 on your post count.

I was enjoying the discussion actually, you were (justifiably) tearing apart EDGE and that's always good to watch. It's just the "I win" comment, it makes you sound like a whiny turd (which you're not).

Sorry, it should've been the ;) smilie, it was just an unexpected response from you. You make a good point though, but perhaps Edge, like so myself and many other reviewers, didn't play the game as intensively as you did or simply didn't consider the faults noteworthy? Leaving out teamplay in certain multiplayer modes is hardly a greivous design error, and I can imagine that it was done for some sort of reason. Care to elaborate on the modes they left teamplay out of, and what the character-select bug involves?

Also, I figured out why there's no custom map play in iLink mode- you'd need to have copies of the map on each PS2, probably on the memory cards to save rewriting the whole custom map code thingie, and for some reason they considered iLink play too much of an obscure feature to mess about finishing that aspect of. Grammatically horrible, that sentence, excuse me.

surely no-one can top the TS2, BS3 and FreakOut reviews? £120 on utter toss. thank christ for refunds.

er, actually... Turok 2?

This isn't "worst Edge reviews of all time", you know. At least Edge's reviews are readable when they're horribly inaccurate. ;)

Anyone got a scan of their infamous Blood II review which was lifted from the press release? ;)
