Legend of Zelda: The Master Quest

Ok I just completed the reworked version of Zelda:Ocarina of Time and overall I thought it was pretty good. As an Ocarina of Time veteran who knows his way around most of the dungeons off by heart it was nice to play through more interesting, more challenging dungeons.

The dungeons however, are the only thing in the Master Quest which are different to the original game. But seeing as inside a dungeon is probably where you will spend at least 50% of your time in Zelda, particularly if, like me, you are able to breeze through the little missions outside of dungeons, then the Master Quest is significantly different.

So yeah, if you feel like playing through Ocarina of Time again but are afraid that you will end up getting bored halfway through, then you should play through the Master Quest. Just be prepared to have to solve some rather, um.... obtuse, puzzles.

Discuss.

I got a couple of dungeons in, then put it aside. Must pick it up again soon.

In general, I thought it was a very nice gift from Nintendo. Maybe this sort of remixing of games should occur more often. Did they do the same again with the Majora's Mask disc, or was that identical to the N64 version?

Was Master Quest included with Mario Kart: Double Dash? Or is it the regular version?

Just the 'regular' version OoT... The 'Master Quest' is only available on the disc that comes with Wind Waker.

I played the Master Quest before I started on Wind Waker. First dungeon (of MQ) isn't too disimilar from the OoT version; the dungeons get progressively more different from the originals, and rather difficult. It's nice that Nintendo released the Master Quest as a freebee, but I'm wondering if it really is like the 'Ura Zelda' game that was going to be released on the 64DD.

As far as I know....

Included with Mario Kart is a disc containing 2 NES Zelda games, Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask BUT NOT The Master Quest.

Included with The Wind Waker is a disc containing the original Ocarina of Time AND The Master Quest.

And pelago, I don't think there is a reworked version of Majora's Mask anywhere. But as an aside; man, would one be great. The fourth dungeon in that valley was brilliant, and a completely different, even more challenging version would be awesome.

I swear the Epona race is impossible in Master Quest, combination of the upped diffiuculty and the GC controller (the fact it's not the N64 controller for which the game was designed... before I get accused of hating the GC).

Did everything else I could, but couldn't beat that. Ah well.

Also, played Majora's Mask GC and it crashed at the Bottom of the Well after about an hour's worth of play. I gave up.

The epona race is easy. You just have to space out carrotage.

Wasn't there a release of Wind Waker with MM included with it instead? I'm sure I heard about it somewhere but I've never seen it.

Did it on N64 no bother, just couldn't do it on GC for some reason.

I did it on my first go.

I finished the master quest a few days ago. Most of the puzzles in the dungeon were guesswork. It really was a mish-mash of stuff in some of the dungeons.

I couldn't play through OoT if it was exactly the same, but the master quest seems different enough...

The feeling you get just before you step into a new room in a dungeon of "I have no idea what will be in this room..." is great. It feels at times almost like playing OoT for the first time, all over again.

Master Quest allowed me replay Ocarina of Time without feeling that it was just a Memory Test. Rather than remembering what I did last time I had to work out the puzzles/rooms anew, which was the next best thing to a new Zelda game (which I had in the shape of WW anyway  ).

Zelda puzzles never seem to stump me for long, but the short time when it's all new and I don't know the answer is bliss. I'll almost certainly speed through the new GBA and GC versions, but that dosent mean i'll enjoy it any less. B)
