well its effort then to plug the mini disc into the pc, its effort to plug the ADSL cable into the computer, its effort to fucking type.

Don't be such a fucking wuss. its plugging a cable in!

See Rin's sig.

The quality is awful and the stuff comes out on CD usually anyway. It's just the fact of having it.

If you want to buy this, please consider getting it from Warp's bleep.com. The whole album costs £6.99 (or 99p per track, which is more expensive) and you'll be supporting one of the few MP3 purchasing services that doesn't use any kind of DRM. It's on their main page at the moment.

Edit: It's actually bleep that the first post link to for the samples; I just wanted to mention that you can buy the whole thing there, too...

Because Vinyl is analogue so theoretically it can produce the exact sound that was recorded (provided the recording is a perfect analogue recording too)

But that is only a theoretical perfection. There's no such thing as a perfect analogue recording.

yeah but the reproduction of the sound via a very good turntable and amp will be less harsh than a very good cd player and amp anyway due to vinyl being analogue and cds being digital.

Vinyl can also play lower and higher frequecies than cds.

Why argue with a fact?

You can feel low frequencies. And to someone who can appreciate superb sound reproduction, Vinyl will sound better than CD.

I'm not saying I have vinyl of course, just a decent CD player. I prefer the combination of sound quality and convenience.

surely it's also down to how well pressed the vinyl is too? i have some vinyl that's lovely and heavy and sounds pristine yet some sounds absolutely shit.

so let me get this straight, you're buying it... with no box or nice cd? [d evil] riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight [/dr evil]

Is that to me, about using bleep.com? If so, yeah, I've bought lots from them. I cleaned up the remaining Autechre albums I didn't have and grabbed a pile of tracks that I had on vinyl, which I haven't been arsed to convert. Everything I buy goes straight onto the iPod / laptop and the CDs are just filed away in storage, so it makes more sense for me to buy the MP3s, keep backups of the original zip file in a few places, and avoid extra clutter. The cash (in this case) goes directly to Warp and the artists, there's no rights management, and everyone's happy.

Album packaging I can happily do without. We're hardly in the gatefold sleeve / Sgt. Pepper heyday, are we?
