Anyway, as for Transformers...

I'm currently lovin the Alaska level. Theres one massive stand-off between you and about 50 decepticlones (felt like 50 anyway) in front on the mountain base, then you work your way up through the inside and come out again high up on the cliffs, its AMAZING!

Lovin' Hailstorm, its definitely the weapon of choice ;)

what one is Hailstorm?

Ah, but have you tried anything other than what EDGE recommend? Do you have your own indomitable will? Or are you merely the faithful henchboy of Future Publishing?

Other FPS's? Is that what you mean? I think I've played every other FPS to come out on console this generation. Red Faction 1 and 2, Fire Warrior, Half Life, Deus Ex 1+2, Riddick, Turok Evolution, Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon and IT, Counter Strike, Serious Sam +Next Encounter, Metroid Prime, Agent Under Fire, Nightfire... I don't think I'm missing any... So, yes, I've played the lot and only Metroid Prime (and that isn't even a FPS) come close to how much enjoyment Halo has given me.

It is true! just check the origin of this picture ;)

Does this mean that Edge is the good lord Jesus and Cacophanus satan? Or is Edge the antichrist and is Cacky trying to save our eternal souls. I'm confused and afraid and need guidance, beeeeeh ;)

just how insecure are you, that you can't accept other people's opinions? not agree with them, just accept that they are their opinions. get over yourself.

Got to wonder if Cacophanus really does read posts.

Mario Kart: Double Dash, anyone? And all those Castlevania GBA titles deserved higher scores.

Cacophanus basically believes that because he plays lots of obscure Japanese games his opinion is somewhat more weighty than anyone elses. Its pretty much the same elitism thats prevalant in music crowds and film buffs. And its bollocks. Slagging off reservoir dogs fans just cos they havent seen taking of pelham 123 or city on fire. Doesnt change the fact that Reservoir Dogs is amazing.

Having just got a PS2 over the weekend, I also bought Transformers, and I must say that it isn't bad (I'm only on the second level, though). There are some lovely little touches, like if you just stand around when you have a helper they will do something, like press-ups or jog on the spot - and there is certainly ambition in the game engine. The cut-scenes are pretty decent, and the action handles pretty well. Pretty good so far.

As for comparisons to Halo, hmm, not sure about that.

Actually, seeing City on Fire kind of confirmed my sneaking suspicion that Tarantino was a waste of time; I'd now say that RD had some fine performances, but I wouldn't go much further than that. Of course, that's cause for slagging off Tarantino, not his fans. Um, I guess the point is that the more we know about something, the more informed an opinion we can make. It's still just our own opinion, of course; if we start treating it as a fact, we're in trouble.

I'm sure Cacophanus knows more than I'll ever know about big robot games, but that knowledge won't give him any idea of whether I'll like a particular big robot game. Clearly, because I like Transformers.

Not to drag this off topic, but I couldn't see any similarities at all between Reservoir Dogs and City on Fire. They both revolve around robberies. That's about it.

Well, as I recall, there's an an undercover cop infiltrating a robbery gang, a dying undercover cop admitting his role to a member of the gang he's infiltrated (after the gangster has taken him under his wing and grown to like him), a woman being shot in the jewellery store raid after setting off the alarm, post-robbery three-way Mexican standoffs, the undercover cop having to kill someone in the course of the robbery, his gangster "friend" shooting cops in a car using dual guns, and more besides. I'd have to watch it again to get specifics, but I was pretty agog in several places during CoF, and I knew RD "borrowed" from it before I watched.

There's no need for Tarantino sycophancy away from you work you know...

As for my opinions, they aren't "weighty" they are just mine. I just wish other people exhibited their opinions rather than tow some kind of party line.

We do express our opinions. Funnily enough, a lot of them are similar. A lot of them aren't.

Why do you assume that they're towing "party line" rather than merely holding an opinion which happens to coincide with it? Doesn't it stand to reason that if one person likes something, someone else will too? Maybe even most people?

Imagining for the moment that they - shock! horror! - genuinely do like it, wouldn't it take greater will and individuality to admit to their nasty lowest common denominator preferences rather than deny them to appear more elite, discerning and unsheeplike?

Isn't your contempt and disdain for the "herd" ever so faintly misplaced and stupid?

what one is Hailstorm?

Its the kickass quad-rocket launcher type weapon that has 4 power bar thingies in the menu.

Not a big fan of the gliding, seems like a bit of a bastard to handle and I end up just simking and siking towards the ground until I finally crash cos my landing technique is shoddy :( I suck

Class game anyway, got up to the Pacific level earlier, and man does it get hard.

Another thing i'm not too keen on is the ridiculous difficulty of the enemies and the sheer number of them when you return, makes going back and exploring a pian in the ass if you ask me...

Still Hailstorm... Oh mama! :P

I'm at the Atlantic on "commander" now..worked my way through normal, medium and now hard. Still enjoying it aswell..maybe iv just played it so much but i seem to be able to work miracles with the glider. Even the little islands miles away in the Atlantic level that you normally just search and then kill yourself. Im managing to drive fast off rocks..take off..raise and lower your 'nose' and you can make it back.

For some reason aswell theres now 2 datacons on the hard Atlantic where there was 1 on easy and normal. I think a datacon unlocks 'no overload' at the minicon screen.

Oh and masses of enemies are your friends. Use the grenade launcher..it only uses 1 bar but you can fire 6 at once and it charges fast. It helps to link at least 2 colours in your minicons.

Oh x 2..you can use the Hailstorm to rocket jump to ridiculous heights and break the minicon collect sequence.

Oh x 3 Starscream and Cyclonus are bastards on commander but do-able in a sneaky way...

Use the middle autobot whatver his name is ..hes got good attack power..for starscream hide in the garage where the minicon was..duck in and out and chuck grenades at him when he flys past you. Spark jump him aswell. Use the dash minicon to dodge his rockets. On Cyclonus use the grenades to keep him at bay on top of the pyramid..you should be able to knock 2 - 3 bars off him before he throws you. Then stay in the river with red strong blaster and grenades..chuck grenades into the sky to bring him down then circle strafe him. Itl be tight on hard but very possible
