Prodigy

Download from your favourite bittorent site now.....

Starts off well, but looses it a little. Good to hear they have moved away from the pop stylings of Fat of the Land, which has aged badly (but then again, it wasn't the best to start with).

Action Radar isn't great at all IMO.

What strikes me is the fact these songs build quickly and lead nowhere, leaving it feeling quite empty. But I think they have realised this, which is why the average song length of each song is about 4mins 30.

Your opinions pls!

I liked all the albums up to and including fat of the land and still do. I'm just downloading this new album but i'm not expecting too much. they've left it too long, aand using Reason badly just made the songs i've heard already sound cheap. and getting rid of keith for juliette lewis :lol:we'll see if that was a good choice soon.....

Experience is still their best album. Funny that Jilted Generation is the album that's aged the best, though - it still sounds as fresh as a daisy.

The new one is better than Fat of the Land (though Fat had its moments). I kinda like it - it has a similar feel to the Dirtchamber Sessions mix CD.

I have no idea why people rated Fat of the Land, it sounded tired when it was released. Experience is where's it at, they used to be all I listened to when I was about 14-15. I'm interested in what the new album sounds like especially if it's sounds similar to the Dirtchamber Sessions.

Who are the guest singers on it - any more Kool Keith?

Juliette Lewis is the voice on Spitfire as I half said

Julia's opinions are her own and she's allowed to have them, okay?

1. Spitfire - a return to form? :P this track is great!

2. Girls - boring shit

3. Memphis Bells - funny shit

4. Get Up Get Off - this is what Sisquo would sound like if he had okay beats, meh

5. Hot Ride - a cover of My Beautiful Balloon done on an Amiga mod <_<

6. Wake Up Call - Very average, sounds like the credits to some shit Torque type movie

7. Action Radar - Oh fuck off, bad Basement Jaxx/Soulwax remix type thing with a touch of the Aphex (at one point I thought it was going to turn into Come To Daddy), but obviously not half as good

8. Medusa's Call - sounds like the Prodigy (apart from the arpeggi synth) but the talent's gone.

9. Phoenix - It's alright but is this Lewis being a boring Saffron?

10. You Will Be Under My Wheels - Sounds like a bad Fat of the Land B-side

11. The Way It - a shit Basement Jaxxy cover of Thriller, great

12. Shoot Down - some nice ideas but it's a bit crap cause it doesn't know what it wants to be.

It just doesn't sound like The Prodigy anymore  if this was someone's debut you'd listen to it and wait for it to be £3.99 and buy it for a couple songs. I bet it'll sell shedloads.

they seem to have lost their identity and trying to forge out a new one, some nice ideas but it's far to ordinary and falls on it's arse, in my opinion.

shame about the rest really!

Yeah nothing else on the album really comes close.

It also doesnt help that the following track (Girls) is utter shite! Talk about highs and lows!

The rest of the albums not that bad, It just doesnt really jump out at you. I think it`ll be a bit of a grower.

Listened to it a few times now.

Spitfire - Girlz - the Way It

All excelent, the rest ..meh

The reason "You'll be under my wheels" sounds like a bad FOTL B -side , is that its a very very heavily reworked version of their live classic Roll and Rock. But not as good.

Going to be interesting to see if they can still do-the-do live.

It's going to be hard to do that if they're going to use their new music. Especially as they don't have a portable Juliette Lewis for the only good song on the album  well of course they could play back her voice but what would they do meanwhile.. a bit awkward

Nah, not a problem at all.

All samples... They didnt have Shahin Badar on stage when they performed SMBU did they?

Afer a few listens I'm thinking Spitfire is weak considering they did Firestarter  so that's the whole album I don't like. I expected Basement Jaxx to go down the toilet, which they did, but not my Prodgy-dodgy and Chemical Bros

It's not like it's complicated or anything like Kid A was, so I don't see how it could be a grower.

It could have hidden depth. I only acquired the album last night so I will give it time. The band who made the album you mention above don't 'float my boat' so the comparison you have made is pointless to me.

waste your money rather than download it and try it? Isn't it harder to work a couple hours for the money you'll waste than spending a minute clicking on a site and going off and watching a movie?

It doesn't sound like a Prodigy album, it sounds like a generic badly executed prodigy-esque rip-off that doesn't sound that much like a prodigy album otherwise it would be half decent
