The Biglime Action Fifty

I've always wanted to see this but it's never been cheap enough and my local Blockbuster is crap.

Is it a straight actioner or does it try to be deep with poorly researched Samurai lore?

It has a comic edge and focuses on honour. It's a playful action film, but I can imagine some people disliking it. Especially if you're particularly critical or cynical about plot structure.

Nice film imo. Cool deaths, Forest is great, rapping gangsters, ace RZA soundtrack and some nice samurai lore. B)

Ghost Dog is in my top three movies of all time. Sometimes. I definitely wouldn't call it an action film, though. Carry on with the action film talk. My suggestions have already been posted it seems.

Aliens. That's if you don't class it as a horror. Pisses on Die Hard from a great height and has aged a hell of a lot better.

Big yellow power loader at end -> mecha genre. Get with the programme.

4. The Hidden: This film opens like a bastard, and never lets the pace drop. Ultra-violent, ultra-gory and uber-eightiestastic, this little-seen cult classic has inspired many a Hollywood action movie. Kyle MacLachlan is, as always, great to watch.

The only bits I didn't like in Die Hard with a Vengence were when they had to work out those really old riddles that everybody in the whole world already knows the answer to.
