MW_Jimmy
Okay, seeing as CDs are ten a penny these days and most of us have CD burners, would anybody be up for a cd swap club? Every month you make a compilation CD for someone and you recieve one from somebody else in the post. It'd be a nice way to bring the forum together a bit. It'll be a bit like that secret santa thing some of you lot did at crimbo - except with music - and cheaper. If theres enough interest then Ill go about organising it. Belbo
Sounds like a fantastic idea to me - as long as all music genres are accepted. If people could be a little open-minded that'd be great.
Dimahoo
Cool idea. Now if only i could get off my fat lard ass and post thoses Streetbeats CDs.
jobe1
Ive just done this on another forum and would be happy to participate here too (if anyone trusts a newbie ). Mines very diverse but its an mp3 disk rather than a regular audio cd as I couldnt cut it down that far.
Looper
I'm well up for it. I participated in one on another forum and it worked brilliantly.

le sai
fantastic idea. how do you work who you send/receive from? by common interest? 0r would it be more interesting to get a whole load of stuff you wouldn't normally listen to...

I think it'd be best if it were randomally generated somehow. If it were done by common interest then for me it kind of defeats the objective. The must be a Javascript or some code somewhere that groups people into pairs randomly. We could do that once a month, post the pair-listing for that month up here (the pairs would then PM each others addresses) and then start work creating a CD for each other. Excellent. Space Renegade Ulala
Sounds good though I probably haven't the time do it justice. Still, I love doing mix tapes/their new fangled modern equivalent...
McNeillR
MP3 discs sounds more economical, but the other person could easily download tracks from certain artist if it was to be around a 15-20 track audio CD. Shall we operate under CD-RWs so in an optomistic light that this goes on for a while?
Guest
that's such a cool idea. I would like to do that
Looper
I think every two weeks might be better than a month - a month is a long time and two CD's a month would keep the interest level up without being an arse to do. My 2 cents obviously...

MW_Jimmy
Hello all. The way I thought of doing it is that one person gets everyones addresses and they randomly draw a list of names. The previous person on the list is who they will recieve a CD from and the person after them is who they will send it too. Anonomous sending is far more fun. Pairing off isn't a good idea as we always need an even number of participants. Also my method means that people can drop in & out as they please each month if they so wish. Im more than happy to do all the sorting out and PMing each month. I won't do anything naughty with peeps addresses (I promise!), but Id understand if you didn't want to do it this way. So yeah if everyones happy the plan of action is: PM me by Sunday if you wish to take part with your name & address. Ill give until Wednesday for you all to put a CD together and on wednesday you'll get a PM telling you who to sent it to. Everyone posts off their CD's Thursday or Friday. Belbo
I'm doing mine now. I'm doing a proper audio CD, so expect about 15-20 tracks depending on the material I use. I assume everyone is doing the same? And is it once a month (which I'd prefer) or twice a month?
biglime
I'd like to do this, but I'd like people to know it's me that's sending, and I'd like to know who's sending to me. Cracking idea, though. R.

MW_Jimmy
Yep, if you wish the other person to know then thats what I'd suggest. As for knowing who sent a CD to you - I'll reveal who send who about a week after to everybody. I've put mine CD together now and its around 20 or so audio tracks. Personally I think its more fun to make a CD without knowing who you are sending it to beforehand but others may feel differently. So, I've brought forward the address handing out to Tuesday. That then gives plenty of leeway if you want to compile it before or after. Everyone should send their CD's before the end of that week. Thanks to those who have PM'd me - theres around eight of us atm so if you would like to join in send me a PM with your name & address before sunday evening. I think doing this once a month is fine. Finally, could someone sticky this please?

I think I'll be choosing all my songs regardless of who I get chosen to make a CD for. I'm using a nice varied selection of music and spending some time seeing which tracks work best against each other before making a decision so it took a good couple of hours to create, but I always spend ages making mix tapes anyway. Theres 16 tracks on mine. I look forward to seeing who I'm unleashing it on.

Belbo
http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/in...oduct_uid=62726 Exactly. CD's are also, like, 10p each or something.
