Winning Eleven 6: Final Evolution

I hear a lot of talk about this game, some say its the best football game of this generation.. what makes it so good? Winning Eleven is the name of the ISS series in Japan, I know that.. but not much more!

I'd like a good football game for the Cube, but not sure if I wanna pay £50+ for it when there's loads of various versions out there WE7I, WE8 out soon etc... why is WE6FE worth that bit more? Does it include fully licensed team and player names?

Also, how easy is it for someone with no knowledge of Japanese to navigate the menu's etc?

Cheers :P

It's the most definative footie game on the GC by far. Konami in Japan have only released this version on the GC and I don't know of any plans to release any further installments.

Team player names and features can be edited to suit (or accquired elsewhere) to the extent that the Japanese commentators say their names right.

Menu's are a nightmare - unless you have a guide.

IMHO it's a must if you want a solid footie game on the GC :P

IMO It was good, untill Winning Eleven 7 international popped up. If you have a JAP PS2 I say wait and get Winning Eleven 8, as the game play overhauls Ive been reading about are immense, along with the 136 club teams (the Italian,Spanish and Dutch leagues will all be officiallly licensed BTW:D )

If no PS2 then I suppose WE:6 Final Evolution is your best bet for a footy game.

It's a good game, but if you own a PS2 just get PES3 as it's a lot cheaper. I'm going to get flamed by people like GOD for saying this, but if they really believe that WE6:FE is worth the extra 40 quid (plus the hassle of the Japaneseness) then, well, I don't know but I think they need to see doctors and stuff.

EDIT: Or as Mr Kabira said, wait until the next iteration.

Don't think getting a guide for the menu's would be a big problem. Is there anywhere that sells the game data for the updated players on a memory card or anything?

As Mr. Spew said, if you got the game I can copy the data across for you for the price of P&P :P You shouldn't have to pay for game data.

As for translation guides, here's a link to what Riccardo Margiotta made:

we6:fe guide

Enjoy.

it is worth the extra money, on the basis that there is much enjoyment to be had, and absolutely none to be had with PES3 :P

oh, and I have a memory card save with 100% of the player names changed to English if anyone wants it. I was copying it for people ages ago when I first made it. it's last season's teams, but hey, they're in English and real and corrected.

il pay p+p of coure :)

i think the best thing about it is the gc control pad.

the 3d stick is 100x better than the dual shock.

You won't be disappointed, little dancing bunny thing.

Since I picked up a copy a few months ago, it's been the most played game out of my collection by a country mile. The menu's aren't a massive hinderance either, all games have a similar menu system ('b' always cancels back, for example). And if you've played any Pro Evo game before, you'll know how to 'dock' a formation before saving, etc.

Even editing players isn't terribly difficult. I spent about 15 minutes getting to grips with what did what, and then stuck Rooney in the England team. Just a shame it still says 'Heskey' when he get's the ball...it always put's me off in front of goal.

you should create him as a fresh player and register him.

as it is, if you just edited Heskey, he's also playing for liverpool...

you can get rid of the name commentary for each player anyway and get it to shout their numbers. in Japanese.

Fully patched JAP Winning Eleven International on PS2 (with Wendetta or WeReal patch) is arguably the best available WE experience out there. Of course only untill August the 5th when WE8 arrives.

I did try with the names calling edit bit, but kept defaulting the whole bloody player back to Heskey. Which was slightly annoying! Oh, and he doesn't play for Liverpool now. ;)

How do I get it to not shout anything just for Rooney? I don't want to stop all of the name calling, some of it's hilarious.

OWAIN!!!

OWAIN!!!

when you're editing his player name, there are 3 fields

Name

Call Name

Shirt Name

go to call name and you'll be presented with lots of japanese player names to choose from. instead click the square-ish symbols just downwards from the OK button. this means he'll be called by his number instead of HESKEYO!!!

My mate's got PES3 and whenever him and the rest of my mates are at mine playing WE6FE they just crease themselves at that commentary. "Nice idea!" "Stingooooh"

One thing you should never do is disrespect the mighty Kabira-san.

the catch is that the only analog version, which stands head and shoulders above all the rest, is unpatchable.

You love the analogueness a little too much.

It helps an amazing amount in play. Very delicate, and once you'd tried it YOU'LL NEVER GO BACK.

Like Dr Pepper, or something. Actually, that was a shit analogy. Think of something yourself.

Aha! I bought FE on the Gamecube on the day of release because I was in Japan at the time. I thought it was better than WE6 but when PES3 came out I preferred that. The ananlogue was good but not that good.

IMO of course.

Ive got both PES3 and FE6 on GC and its hard to seperate them

Its a lot easier to score on PES3 and I get annoyed on FE6 with the crap ref decisions and pulling the shirt back whenever you are making a run tho I love them both now equally (tho Ive not played FE6 for a bit cos I only just bought the PES3 recently)

Bring on PES4 baby
