Official Toys of the Film

Hasbro has posted the first official photos of action figures for the upcoming Transformers movie on the company's official website. Included are pics of Starscream and Optimus Prime in their Cybertronian forms. The toys will be available May 1st and retail for about $9.99.

Our world will be transformed on July 4 when aliens make Earth their final battleground in Transformers. As the forces of evil seek the key to ultimate power, our last chance for survival rests in the hands of young Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf).

Don't know if it's been mentioned (I didn't notice), but there're Hi-Def versions of the trailer on Yahoo.

I was never interested in Transformers during their original release - I knew what they were and what they were about, but I was past the age where I'd sit down and watch that sort of cartoon show by then - so, without any peconceived ideas about what should happen, how things should look etc., this looks like a pretty nice couple of hours of popcorn muncher.

I remember asking for a new version of Megatron last year that captured the essence of the animated series while keeping his ice cool menance as no figure beforehand really got it right but this has got it down to a tee. Awesome. The gun looks identiocal to the original as well.

With this and Materpiece Starscream I hope all the significant Generation Decepticons/Autobots get the same treatment in time. Next up Shockwave, Galvatron, Springer and Perceptor please!

I also want to be able to pose a good ass kicking plasma cannon of death Galvatron figure like when he struts his stuff after being reformatted by Unicron with one leg behind the other and a moveable canon that is good for assasinating pesky underlings.

What's the vibe on this, then (as I haven't read any of the thread)?

I saw the trailer yesterday, and from that I deduce that it is more a film about focusing on humans than big stompy robots, and therefore will be shit. Anybody know anything different?
