MAMEoX 0.84.b1 Released

Stroker Ace

Not sure about that error message- but it won't even display the title screen on mine. It shows the credit screens ('sega enterprises' etc) and then locks up.

I don't know why I bothered trying tbh- it won't even run on a 3200+ with a 9800Pro ;)

Radiant Silvergun isn't emulated properly yet.

AllYourBase - Read the readme (or the first post in this thread). MALLOC errors are when the Xbox runs out of memory. You'll need to manually set the level of VM as shown in the readme and then set it in your VM.txt and don't forget to post it on Xbox-scene to make sure it gets included in a new official version of the VM.txt.

Surely half the point of a vectrex is the screen? Wouldn't emulating it be kinda defeating the point?

Some of the other emulated vector games don't look that bad on a telly, and it was only a dinky little monitor, so it might even look better. Unless you get a big kick out of playing on the old hardware. To me, a game running on its original hardware is only a shadow on the wall of Plato's cave or something,, unless there is some good reason (funny controller, for instance) that you can't play it successfully on emu.

So what interesting roms have people got working in this new release? I still cant get street fighter 1 to work!

Tengai and vasara are very cool thou, added them to the good roms list B)

Well, Ninja Warriors now works, but as its on 3 monitors it's hardly playable on a single telly. I had high hopes for Sexy Parodius, but that still fails for me, but not with a memory error. Maybe my ROM is buggered or something.

With MAMEoX most likely seeing regular updates in much the same way as the PC version, all the major 8 and 16 bit consoles done to a high standard, several major home computers and the vast majority of 2D arcade games all running nicely on the XBox, most of the emulation bases are covered.

So, what's next for XBox emulation, then?

Surreal64 v2 is being done right now, so that's something to look forward to, but that's 'more and better' rather than 'new'.

I'd like to see a port of Zinc, as unlikely as it may be. Zinc will run in a more than acceptable manner on a PC with a similar spec to the XBox - it's just the port job that'll be hard, as well as the usual virtual memory issues. It's something I'd like though, being a big fan of Strider 2. Anything to get ZN-1/ ZN-2/System 11 emulation up and running would be nice, if it's at all possible.

We'll obviously never see a Saturn emulator, and CPS3 is a long, long way off, even on the PC.

So, other than tweaks to established emulators, what's next?

How about one of the few pinball emulators such as PinMAME of Visual Pinball? Now THAT'S something I'd be interested in.

I'd like to see Xport actually bother to update PCSXbox, seeing as its compatibility is still pretty far behind the Windows version.

Well it works fine for me  You sure you have the Konami bios? It might just be a case of re-downloading the ROM again, as you say...

i want model 2 emulation please!

there is a test version of Model 2B here which is fully playable.

but unless someone comes up with the doc for the Fujitsu chips (3D co-processor) nothing will happen in the Model 2 and Model 2A emulation. the 3D can't be displayed. see the progress here.

Model 2C games are fully playable, like sega touring car championship and the house of the dead.

however, a Model 3 emulator is being worked on and it's turning out good so far.. sega rally 2 and scud race.. mmm..

Original from the arcade (STV board or something I thought), yet the arcade version is kinda lame when compared to the Saturn version. Saturn version has more levels and bossfights.

For sexy paradious to work you need to enter this code:

sexyparo 4 16 65535

into the vm.txt file

You will also need konamigx.zip which is the bios, I assume you have that though

Thanks for the konamigx.zip. I never knew that was a necessary zip

There are a number of BIOS files required by certain systems.

And because I'm so excellent, I've uploaded them all HERE in one 6MB zip file.

Just unzip the bios.zip and place all the individual zips in your roms folder. Now that you have these, every single game you download will have the BIOS file it may require.

Ah good, thats fixed my splatterhouse problems then! Also I had noticed that changing specific game settings were effecting global settings, glad to see this is dealt with also!

As an aside I just learnt how to remember high scores.....

Go to http://www.mameworld.net/highscore/download.htm and download the hiscore.DAT file. Unzip it and place the file in the same directory as MameoX default.xbe

Then go to http://www.mameworld.net/highscore/ and download the allnvrams.zip (all NVRAM files in one) and unzip them to nvram directory in the mameox folder. If you don't have one then create it.

Games should save highscores from now on.

Have fun. :)
