Street Fighter 4 wish list.

I am glad that Capcom hasn't given up totally on their 2d fighters. Releasing Capcom fighting Jam shows some hope.

However I would love to see a brand new Street fighter a proper sequel Street Fighter 4. The type of game which would give you the same excitement as when you first palyed Sf 2.

As Snk's engines have perfected and developed the fighting system such as Mark of the Wolves and the current KOF 2003. A really developed parrying system which would add even more depth is something I would like to see.

With Snk and Sammy now releasing their latest games on the new Neo wave hardware the results look stunning.

What would you like to se if this sequel was made?

What I would like...

Only 2 fighters; you know which ones!

And then save the time they'd spend on doing the other 38 or whatever fighters on making everything else about the game WELL GOOD.

Less of a focus on lame oddball characters. SF3 had about ten or so completely pointless ones, like Q, Goro, Hugo and that one made out of sentient yoghurt.

Heh, spoken like a true n00000b. :(

Some of the top players use Hugo and Goro to annoyingly good effect. They can be fucking nightmares to play against.

Exactly. That's why they shouldn't be there. Nothing worse than fighting an unbalanced character that any old n00b can win with by just bashing buttons.

me and Dave have joked about that for years; Streetfighter Ken & Ryu edition, cos that's all we ever play :( (although not strictly true). if they did do that though it would be brilliant, allowing real depth to emerge from learning one of two characters. they could add tons of modes n features, with new moves being added along the way etc it could be revolutionary if done right.

and it should be 2D. basically the purity and balance of SSFIIX with two characters, more depth and subtlety coupled with modern technology and the most beautfiul 2D sprites ever witnessed :)

I won't deny it... :)

But come on. Q and the yoghurt guy (XII?), and Necro (whether he was hard to beat or not, he's just fucking irritating).

Seriously, anyone who's played with a character like Hugo will be able to tell you how insanely difficult it is to get good with him. But it is possible.

I'll agree with you on Q, but Twelve and Necro are also used by many top players. They are the most awkward characters to learn properly (generally due to their slowness) but getting good with them is very possible, and - I can imagine - extremely rewarding.

Fair enough. But they still look like something out of Body Blows Galactic. :(

You might be interested to know that Capcom didn't originally intend Ken and Ryu to feature in SF3, but the fans practically demanded them in so they were included.

The game could have been much more "off-the-wall" than it turned out to be.

Ken & Ryu don't belong in Street Fighter III. Their fighting styles don't fit the game at all and as grav0 points out, they were only added at the last minute due to fan pressure.

The true Ken and Ryu of SFIII are Dan and Alex. If you can't get to grips with them, then you can't really play Street Fighter III as it was intended.

Kill off Ryu from the storyline for a start, just have Ken and an older Sakura from the Shoto Brigade. Put Mike Haggar in and give him loads of cool holds and grapples. Keep the single super art system, none of the nutsoid Lv1-3 super combos flying all over the place stuff. Bring in new moves that are not quite special moves ala dragons, fireballs et al but a step up from a standard punch/roundhouse and perhaps, given it's most likely to be developed for home machines only, throw in some character customising and story RPG elements (akin to how practising certain moves in Shenmue would lead to them being faster and more powerful with time).

Dan wasn't in 3rd Strike. Are you thinking of Sean, maybe?

Yun and Makoto are 3rd Strike's Ken and Ryu for me. Yun's Genei-Jin is deadly.

I agree the whole thing should be made from scratch!

If I see that re hashed morrigan again I will go mental!

You only have to look at how Snk Playmore include new fighters to thier Kof series.

Although Ash Crimson from Kof 2003 is very similar to Remy out of 3rd Strike he does play very well indeed.

Say Ken and Ryu and Guile, and the classic fighters unlocked after mastering one of the new characters through objectives like Vf 4 training.

I reckon that would inspire and motivate.

Maybe it should be different ie Street Fighter in Virtua Fighter 4 evolution mould and no silly fireball.

I would like a game with all street fighters characters and capcom character like Final Fight and viewiful joe to be added :)

that would be shit.
