Don't know how many of you are watching this but its brilliant. The main character is fasinating, a gay jewish gangster who we never really get to know, and like and dislike in equal measure. and the acting is superb.

so well done the BBC, for a change.

Watched it all, which is something as hardly ever stick with TV dramas. Was so-so. Compare it to a decent gangster movie and it really doesn't measure up. Thought the guy who played Starks varied from scene to scene. Would love to hear what he talks like in real life ...

Was odd the way characters just flitted in and out. So many loose ends. What happened to Derek Jacobi's character? And Mooney's ending was a damp squib. Wonder if they chopped it down to four episodes. I'm sure the DVD will answer that ...

Best episode was the Phil Daniels one. Someone said it was a true story, can't believe that - his character was clearly based on Jack "The Hat" McVitie.

the book it is based on, The Long Firm buy Jake arnott is one th ebest books I've read. It has an amazing charm. The subsequent He Kills Coppers and Truecrime do not really stand up but do contnue the story to a certain extent. Comes full circle in truecrime in fact.
