Haven't played it yet but you can get Space Tripper for 49p + postage on GAME's website at the moment. It got an 8 in Edge.

I really like Space Tripper, but only because it has gameplay features that let me show off (e.g. deciding against using the spread laser...and waiting for enemies to mutate into their tougher iterations B) )

Playing Last Resort at the moment. It's-a-niiiice.

<_<

Prepare to be humiliated. From memory it's one of the hardest shooters of that time(-that I played). Not too bad for a R-type clone either. I especially liked that you're able to use the force and attatch it under/ on top of your ship. Some very cool, if slightly familiar, power-ups as well.

I'm after a scrolling shoot-em-up for the PC, what would you all recommend?. Are there any retail ones available?.

Space tripper is okay but has a bug with no fix at present that causes eventual joystick lag whilst playing. You move, ship moves later and it gets worse but a reset sometimes solves the issue.

Firstly - check out the free to download sheumps like Extra Extend. I'll post a link later.

Then get Mame32 right? That obvious.

Then get ePSXe. Go to game and but the cheap Ps1 shuemps.

Ray Storm (Layer section 2), Internal section (Square), DoDonpachi, R-Type Delta, G-Darius, et-all.

All the PS1 shuemps work fantastically withn only minor graphical corruption, if at all.

Anyone know what PomPom are doing now?

They're working on something they can't talk about, possibly a game to be retail published like Space Tripper and Mutant Storm have been. An Xbox version of MS has been finished apparently, hopefully we'll see it on the new Live Arcade thing when it gets rolled out.

Quick question: Is it worth getting DC Giga Wing just so I can play it on a big telly as opposed to a small monitor with MAME? I saw it going cheap (about £20 preowned) at one of my retro retailers and considered it...but I'm not sure.

If you enjoy Giga Wing, Emulation Zone strongly recommends that you pop out and get the Dreamcast version, which sells for £4.99 or less nationwide. (And if you haven’t got a Dreamcast, the going rate for one of those is around 20 quid, so it’s still a lot cheaper than buying a single poor-quality PC shooter.) Not just for the “moral” reasons, but because the DC version is actually a substantially superior game, largely due to the addition of the all-important Score Attack mode, the game mode of champions. Use Nebula’s Giga Wing as a sort of playable demo, and prove that emulation actually generates money for the idiot software industry. The industry might not thank you for it, but your trigger finger, at least, will love you forever.

I think it's far cheaper than £20 on ebay IIRC.

Space Tripper is out of stock on Game now :)

I pressed the order button and left my email address and they said they'd let me know when they'd get it back in stock.

Has anyone ever had success buying a game when it's been out of stock, and do you reckon they'll still charge 48p if they do get it back in stock?
