Most Difficult Moment Ever

In fact, another to my list - it's not the hardest boss, but for me one of the most fun, the first time I fought Ultimate Rugal at the end of Capcom vs SNK.

Ah that can go on my list, must have took me a good 30 goes on the highest difficulty setting with Ken to beat him. Cheating shitey Street Fighter bosses.

The first commandos game I found impossible to do, the first mission involved getting onto an island unseen. I couldnt even make it out of the the fucking boat to start the mission. Wonder whether the game was any good.

Commandos 2 on the PS2 is fucking impossible, a frustratingly hard game made even more difficult by the utter shite and un-useable controls.

I also found the original Resi hard, with Chris, mainly because I used all my save tapes early on and so had to survive big chunks of the game (including some bosses) without dying. Also it being my first resident evil game I wasted a lot of health and ammo and wandered around aimlessly getting lost solving puzzles. It was fantastic though, it just made the whole thing even scarier, knowing that you last saved half an hour ago so there was no turning back!

I found Ninja Gaiden to be quite hard I managed to finish it but I did use loads of items to do it. F335 on the DC never got to grips with it but I ain't that great at driving games so that was probably me. I also found Breath of Fire III on the PS tough and i'm normally pretty good at RPGs but found this tricky.

You're not very good at Grammar either :D

BoF3 was a bit unbalanced though, the random encounters would werar your characters down far too quickly.

Spartan: Total Warrior.

A relative breeze, until your charged with escorting the suicidal Archemedes through packed streets of Roman warriors. Utterly ruined the game for me (I still can't get past it) and is unquestionably the toughest difficulty spike I've seen in a game....ever.

oh god......and i thought i was the only one

you pretty much have to re-do the first part, and notice where the health and spirit altars are

also:you cant leave him alone too long, and you cant rush ahead ( his character freezes)

and use the spear fire thing radial move (lots of kills, lots of blue thingies, also its easier to build up the rage meter using the aforementioned)

also the last bit.............stay around his door.....otherwise its gameover

Gradius III 1CC.

Arcade, natch.

Kontra : shattered soldier. I belive the creators just took a piss making it that hard.

It's more learnable than any other Contra game, though. The element of randomness that made, say, Super Probotector/Contra III so hard is gone, and as a result I find it much easier. I S-ranked every level a while back, in fact!

The last boss in PS2 Shinobi. I simply cannot beat the fucker.

Revenge of Shinobi was pretty hard as well, took me a few years to beat, but in a different way. When you play a game from start to finish like a 16-bit platformer, or a modern shmup, you get to warm up and get into the zone. With these modern games when you get stuck, you're stuck there for good. Endlessly ramming your head off the difficult spike. It's alot of the reason I really hate modern game structure. With the old arcade type games they could ramp challenge intelligently. It's impossible to balance games with savepointss IMO.

Aye. This is why it makes me balk when I hear cheesy buzz-phrases like "archaic design" and "2D simplicity"...

I've had such a hard time with it. The trouble is I'm starting with so little health and magic as it is, so I have to scout ahead every time and top both up to about half way, leaving me without valuable health and magic boosts on route.

At present I'm having most luck by turning large crowds of Romans to stone, then quickly switching to the twin blades and smashing them all up ASAP. I can't survive the final battle though, it's just too much, the furthest I've got is wiping out all the smaller soldiers, but being wasted by those large Soldiers and the fast little ones.

I'll crack on with it, but it's frozen my progress to such a degree, I really dread returning to it :) `

You got through it by using that fire blast from the spear then?

Hades in sodding Battle of Olympus for the NES, I even had to write to Nintendo Power for a hint but by the time I got a reply back 3 months later I had beaten it.

You just go all the way to the right side and duck down so he can't hit you and then smack him in the leg as he tries to jump after you.

The fucking dancing thing in san andreas. I took a week off work when that came out and spent fucking days trying to get past that mission. I tried everything, i turned the sound off, I wacked my face against the screen so i could perfectly judge when to press the button but nothing worked. It was awful! In the end I managed it on the Sunday and had to go back to work the next day.

Bizarrely, I'm a great dancer in real life.
