Latest podcast is pretty cool - sounds like the AI of the brutes is pretty impressive. They also warn that in order to really enjoy 4 player co-op, you'll need to get the level up to Legendary and use some "modifiers" which they have yet to reveal. Yet...

I guess with four players a game designed for one player can get pretty easy (though the second hangar in H2 certainly wasn't twice as easy with two). Hopefully they'll keep the H2 Legendary system where one player's death sends everyone back to the last checkpoint, which really is the best incentive for teamwork I've seen in a game. It'd be very annoying if you ended up with a random doofus on your team, but then co-op's an experience for friends.

What I really like about that system is it keeps Super Lovecraft in check, because after playing through the same section twenty or thirty times he does grudgingly start using rudimentary tactics. It's fascinating to watch.

They discuss that in the latest podcast, at about 59 minutes. After a question about the difficulty of 4 player Legendary and the way checkpoints will work, they say: "No matter how you feel about the content of that question, there is a happy answer for you. It doesn't matter which part of that bothers you or excites you, it's good news."

That suggests multiple options, to me...

Didn't they state in an update that their's a skull system in place where you can effectively add additional constraints into co-op. So one of the skulls will be to send all players back to the last checkpoint if a player dies etc. They said that the hardest way to play the game is with all skulls on so it's probably stuff like "pistols only" as well.

This is one of a few games i've been trying to not hype up too much, ignoring articles and videos of it whenever I could but today I failed. I read the Edge feature and my god I WANT IT, I WANT IT, I WANT IT! I could have played levels like the Earth ones on Halo 2 forever, so if there is more like his, with added 360 sheen and all the new features i'm gonna be one happy gamer, bring it on!

Microsoft:

"Campaigns start today, with Pepsi launching a 12-week effort that includes a new flavor of its Mountain Dew drink dubbed Mountain Dew Game Fuel that's loaded with 30% more caffeine. Halo's Master Chief character is emblazoned on the specially designed cans."

That's shit, that is.

Not just shit, pretty reprehensible in all honesty. 'Mountain Dew Game Fuel that's loaded with 30% more caffeine'. Fuck sake. Ignoring the health implications, think how bad Halo 2 was online, then add 30%. That's Halo 3 for 12-weeks.

Haha, that flamethrower looks sweet! It'll be interesting to see what it looks like in action because flamethrowers have always been tricky to look natural.

Bungie's homepage has a picture of it in action, I think, here. you're right, flame throwere are hard to make look right
