Ridge Racers Videos

That wee checkpoint hud is pointless, and the commentary is overused.

Other than that it's well sexy, I forgot just how great the Ridge series is, love the music, it's so OTT.

.::: That's why the commentary is overused. :( Lovely.

Personally I think that in terms of the Ridge Racer series the highlights of it (for me) were Rage Racer and Ridge Racer Type 4. I did also enjoy RRV but it was not as good as Ridge Racer Type 4. There is no doubt however that a port of RRV which is what Ridge Racer on the PSP essentially looks to be, will sell the console in droves. Strange seeing as RRV was regarded as the poorest PS2 launch title.

Can`t say i reckoned much to type 4 tbh. the whole front end was very clunky and the story mode was highly annoying having to shift through screens upon screens of text. Also didn`t like the way you unlocked the cars either. But as racing goes type 4 did have excellent graphics along with some nice course design. I regard RR5 as the pinacle of the series going back to the routes of the original and gave you better graphics and a few more courses for good measure.

As for the psp version being a port of RRV are you having a laugh, seriously? Did you even bother to look at the clips? It has courses from type 4, RRV, Rave racer, and by some early footage shown courses from rage racer and revolution so i consider it to be a little more than a port of RRV :P

True, so it is basically like Wipeout 3 Special Edition that graced the PSX. That was basically elements from all previous titles thrown together, the only videos I have seen of Ridge Racer on the PSP did strike me as being very similar to RRV, hence my obviously flawed (for which I apologise) conclusion that it is based on RRV rather than any other Ridge Racer.

I'm still playing (and loving) the original Ridge Racer and Rage Racer as well as Ridge Racer Type 4, as mentioned, the music that has featured throughout the series has, in my opinion, always been very good.

could this be the best ridge racer EVAR!

from those video's i would say hell YES!

From the looks of it i could see 2 very different handling types. The rage racer type handling was present in the rage track and on the sunset track from T4, but the the first video, the cars handled very much like RRV... not a good thing as it was way to easy to slide .

Loved the inclusion of the little Rally X homage to idicate the lead position difference. A little dubious about the new commentator though... Let's face it, who can say "He's right on your tail" or "You're trying for a gold by going the wrong way... you're crazy!" like the original Ridge Racer guy?

Looks stunning.

.::: Maybe the original guy died. At least this sounds better than the commentator from V. IMO.

They need the voice person(s?) from Rave. The woman one sounded insane.

.::: Actually they should do both, with both commenting on different aspects of your driving. Like the male voice focusing on speed, while the woman's voice comments on your racingstyle and trickery.

Maybe in R6...
