If anyone not on the list is on and doesnt get an invite dont get the hump, it will just be because we are at our full quota. But chances are a slot will free up.

Everyone who wants a shot at the commander roll should maybe have a little think about how they are gonna approach the main maps.

I feel like shit today due to being up boozing till 3:30am last night, so volunteers for the role are most welcome :P

We did ok last night. Started off with a nice rond of NOSHI on Midship sponsored by MadKiwi. Then we did a bunch of big team battles. Got some draws en a few wins. I believe the multi flag and neutral bomb games on Coag are impossible to win unless your opponent makes a stupid mistake.

Me and my private chauffeur Atarian are really getting the hang of that warthog on Coag. We had a couple of killing spree's going on there, managed to keep the opposing team from getting the launcher and we did our bit to keep the center of the map clear of nasty baddies. That Hog is really useful on coag as long as you don't get an opposing team with a lvl 1000 sniper and manage to keep hold of the launcher.

We did quite well on waterworks too. It turned out quite well with just 2 people on permanent defense and the rest on the attack. Syntax did a good job at commanding, he managed to get everyone out there in groups which I think made it pretty much impossible for the opposing team to get a real flag steal going. If they did we could see them coming from miles away. Also with just 2 people on defense you're more focused on the flag instead of running around the base looking for baddies. I don't think it's likely that the opposing team will manage to take the flag without anyone noticing, which used to happen to us all the time.

For some reason the commander idea wasn't working so well last night. I'm not sure whether it was because people kept dying, or just weren't doing what they were told, but a couple of times on Waterworks I was quite far forward with the launcher or sniper or whatever, ready to lend myself to an attack, but no-one ever went forward. At one point I was going back and forth between the middle section of the map, picking up more rockets and destroying their vehicles as they left the base, but no-one ever turned up to join the attack, despite Syntax asking all but two people to push forwards!

And he was right on Headlong, too - if you're going to have a commander, you need to do what he says! He asked everyone to let the bomb respawn. Me and him were sitting in Hogs back at base, ready to drive the bomb forwards, but the bomb took about a minute to come back! By that time the round was almost over, and the team was split between people pushing forward and people back at base waiting for the respawn.

Yeah, sorry if I sounded arsey last night.

I think it is hard with 6 people, as you are normally relying on 2 randoms towing the line, which Mr "yeah that worked well didnt it" most certainly wasnt

If everyone can get there names in early for next wednesday I plan to forumlate a rough plan for the most regular game types in advance and post them on the Bungie forum where everyone can have a look before we play.

But yeah, even if the commander says something to do which you think "hang on, thats a crap idea" just do it, then in the lobby we can discuss what we think worked, and we we think didnt, and take it all from there.

Serious announcement over

I think we need a night of some fun custom games amongst ourselves/forum soon!

I actually thought it went quite well! We won the majority of the games, when we got beat i think we were up against decent teams. Saying that, i was in defence a lot, couldn't see the action at the other end.....

I think its early days though, maybe everyone needs to be a bit more patient. Fair enough i didn't agree with some things, but i do agree we need to toe the line and then discuss it after as mentioned. It should be noticeable quite quickly if it isn't working.

Another thing: how to people interpret the command to 'attack'?

Personally, I get myself in a position as far forward as possible for me to use my weapon effectively but minimising my chances of dying. I then wait there until the rest of the attack team are ready to go in.

So, for example, last night when I was hanging around in the middle of the map with the launcher, as far as I was concerned, I was 'attacking'. Any further forward and I was negating the point of my primary weapon, and would have risked losing it to the opposition.

If I had a battle rifle, I would advance to a point somewhere round the sides, and hang around there silently until backup arrived.

I ask, because maybe some people, when told to attack, simply make a beeline for the base, and run in, only to swiftly turn themselves into a red x.

So, how to people interpret the command to move forward?

When we're supposed to go on the attack I'd make sure I'm not way ahead of my teammates but otherwise I'd lob in some grenades and charge in right after them. Unless I have a sniper ofcourse.

I think it's probably a good idea to make sure you pair up before charging in for some a close-range attack. If you can manage to co-ordinate three two-man teams or two three-man teams going in through different entrances, that has to be the best.

I must say, I did like it when Syntax shouted "everyone attack that Wraith!" It exploded in about two seconds flat. Very useful!

Yeah, I did believe no vehicle can withstand any concentrated fire, but it's nice to see it was true.

And I think we actually did well last night overall. Rockboy and me could start a thriving shop in enemy flags.

Yes, I particularly enjoyed your on-foot steal of the flag on Waterworks. As you came out the back door, I was out the back with the sniper rifle. The two guys chasing you were easy pickings as I delivered hot bullets into their soft heads.

I thought you were away in the Hog, but somehow it ended up rolling over at the entrance to the caves. You managed to sneak off into the corridors with the flag, and I leapt over the flaming Hog wreckage to cover you for the long walk back.

When you came out into the open near out launcher spawn, a Banshee started attacking, and you were shouting , "need some help over here quickly!" Little did you realise you were in safe hands. Good old Pob was right behind you armed to the teeth. I thought the Banshee might finish you off as I pumped shotgun shells into it. But then the pilot foolishly jumped out, and I finished him off.

Back at our vehicle parking spot, an enemy Ghost put an end to your heroic run. I managed to leap over it as it squashed you, pumping a shotgun round right into the drivers face as I landed. A quick flag throw to Syntax, and he walked it the rest of the way, stealing the point that rightfully belonged to you :D

I think we all agree I did the hard work on that one :D

I enjoyed the games last night actually. Just frustrating when we get draws having been close on a number of occasions in securing a win!

There was one instance Syntax told me to hold position behind the enemy base till backup arrived - to which I tried to but at the time that Syntax was telling me this I had encountered a Wraith despite being crouched down the whole time. Sods law that it shot my ass to bits before I could hide :D

Right, Syntax and Madkiwi were the only ones i couldn't add as their friends lists were already maxed out. Either they are the most popular or most lazy forumites, depending on how you look at it. :D

kiwi hasnt used his main tag for a bit, so he'll probably need to clean it up a bit, so to speak.

Syntax is just a lazy spaz :D
