For me it's without a doubt: Madvillain: Madvillainy (Stones Throw).

Allready a stone-cold classic in my book, the perfect fusion of Madlib at his best and MF Doom scaling new heights of lyrical genius... or something.

Excellent album and if you haven't got it, get it. NOW!

My top three albums of the year so far, in no particular order -

1: Hextatic - The Master View

2: Rainstick Orchestra - The Floating Glass Key In The Sky

3: Brian Wilson - Smile.

I said in another thread that I had heard the bootleg version of Smile and wasn't that impressed but everyone was so positive that I went out and bought it anyway. I am so glad I did it's a superb album.

This top three may change if the new Lemonjelly album is any good.

This should wait until December.

Exactly.

And whats with all you fools suddenly crawling out the woodworks stating a Hip-Hop album as your favourite release of the year but haven't taken a second to bother coming into the Hip-Hop recommendations thread? Fakers <_<

Is LP the cool word for 'album'? I always get it mixed up.

Surely has to be A Grand Don't Come for Free, right?

By the way Soong mate, your sig is incorrect.

It's actually

DUST.....anybody......no?.......DUST.......anybody........no?..........DUST etc etc.

Now or in 2 weeks time... who cares? You apparently (pedants).

;)

Anyway, to properly assess an album I need more than a couple of weeks. Some records are great to begin with but soon loose their shine (stating the obvious so everybody can follow).

Kisses

Get with the times man, its all about Dooms MMFood album at the moment! ;)

Just listening, for the first time, now. Only 5 tracks in and I reckon its superb. Funky quality beats with your man Doom yet again showing hes the best mc around. One Beer......what a tune!

I don't own Madvillain (copied it onto my minidisc ages ago-but don't use it now :) ) but its hard to argue with it being up there as one of the best of the year.

But yeah wait till december and i'll say MM Food! ;)

What earthshaking releases are coming out in the next 12 days? ;)

My favourite was probably The Streets - A Grand Don't Come For Free

But I love:

Wilco - A Ghost Is Born

Rainstick Orchestra -The Floating Glass Key in the Sky

The Go! Team - Thunder, Lightning, Strike

Skalpel - Skalpel

Frank Black Francis - Frank Black Francis

Beastie Boys - To The 5 Boroughs

I have Madvillainy but haven't listened to it yet, same with Mark Lanigan - Bubblegum.

Delta Goodrem (not heard it)

Gwen Steffani (worried, cos I quite like it)

Lemar (shocking)

Brian MacFadden (haven't bothered)

Girls Aloud (likewise)

Nas (not a patch on any of his earlier stuff)

Pearl Jam (Still waiting for a copy, but again a best of)
