Pocket Pc

i'm thinking of getting a pocket pc.

are they recommended for playing emulators and such? which model is best suited for gaming (thinking control-wise), processor speed etc?

it would be great to run things like MorphGear and other emulators on it. has anyone tried it with a pocket pc? is it any good?

My PocketPC is great for Scumm (point and click adventures, using the stylus), but I find the controls too fiddly for joypad games. There used to be an old Casio PocketPC which had its controls laid out like a Game Boy, with the cursor controls on the left and the buttons on the right, but they all have their cursor controls in the middle now :-(

Oh dear, I didn't know that. That's even worse.

I'm sure I saw somewhere an addon joypad-like controller for at least one model PocketPC, that clipped onto the bottom. Dunno how good it was, though, or whether it solved the simultaneous button press thing.

I downloaded Morphgear about a month back. Very impressive - i had Sonic Chaos running on it in seconds. The sound wasn't perfect though.

You can have a touch screen pad appear on the screen to use as a controller, but i found it a bit fiddly. And if you don't register it, you have to put up with some small red text on the screen.

I've got a Toshiba e500, which runs at 300 mhz. Oh, and the best site is pocketgear.com or good old tucows.com

MorphGear is cool, but I do get slowdown when playing large SNES games and the one GBA game i have too.

The screen on my Pocket PC isn't really large enough to use the little pop up controller, so it is a bit fiddly to control when playing SNES games, considering my PPC has only four other buttons apart from the eight way joystick.

I saw a guy on the tram today playing Mario Kart on his Pocket PC, looked like it was running pretty well.

The funny thing was though it looked like a DS version as the bottom of half of the screen was a map of the track  all a bit strange.
